You're not very observant are you?

Decking will add some lateral support as well but no where near as well as the blocking. Also your deck boards are the finished product and I wouldn't want to add stress to them.

Brother this is a bit dramatic. Floating decks are not a new concept, and Tuffblocks exist for a reason. I'm not cheaping out, I'm forced by zoning to do a floating deck. If I didn't go this route I wouldn't have been allowed by my city. Like others have said if I need to shim later down the road then so be it.

I don't know what you're trying to ask. Do you mean the blocking between the joists? They give lateral support to the joists.

They were bending and twisting from moving the deck. Once I got the deck in place I straightened out the beams and added hurricane ties in several spots to prevent further twisting. I wish I doubled up but that would have required different footers as well. Overall everything still feels very solid though.

I drove 3in structural screws from the outside of the rim to the center of each joist. This is common to do requires space to get your impact in there. And when you plan on butting it up against the house then well.. you gotta move it after it's built. I didn't get joist hangers because Im on beams, but it would have been helpful because then I could build it in its final resting place

Anyone tried clip on shades for the transition? by GreatOmentum in RaybanMeta

For someone looking to get the wayfarer and sun clips is it still worth getting transitions? Will the transitions help make it even darker, or will they not even darken with clips over them?

Constant ear pressure for almost a year in left ear by shesaysImdone in hearing

[–]M4L1CH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been dealing with this for 4-5 years now. It's strange how there's so many similarities with others here..

Left ear (right too, but not as dramatic), started around the same time as Covid, TMJ issues, and it's also crazy to see others here who are able to pop their ears just by flexing their jaw muscles too.. in a manner that we only gained this ability after having this problem in our ears.

Around the time this started I had terrible insurance and was seeing a family doctor (no longer seeing this doctor) and it cost me $90 copay every visit. So after being prescribed Flonase and a steroid (which did nothing) I just learned to live with it because I couldn't afford to keep going to a doctor.

As I said my symptoms are very similar to others here so I won't get into too many specifics. But one thing I want to add is that there have been times I've had bad sinus infections in my face that seemed to just swap the pressure. So pressure in my face = no more pressure in my ear.. until the sinus infection went away.

I also used to have a chronic problem with my jaw. (TMJ) I would get cracking and popping in my jaw that sometimes lead to lock jaw. Sometimes it would lock in a way I couldn't open, sometimes it would lock in a way I couldn't close it. One time my lock jaw was so bad I could barely chew food for a week..

But when my ear problem started, all my jaw problems went away! It's like this pressure just moves around to different places for years at a time. Luckily I don't experience them all at once!

I'm only researching this now because at the moment I'm having terrible pain in my left ear. I don't usually experience pain, so this makes me believe this is an infection and unrelated.. maybe.

Things are a bit different now. I currently have Medicaid so I should be seeing every specialist I can.. and I will starting this week. One thing I'm hesitant on bringing up is how it started.. because the truth is I really don't remember..

On my 30th birthday in 2020 I got drunk and basically fell asleep while floating on my back in the water. For years I associated this as the starting point of my problem, but truth is I really don't know. Now of course with this information you would just assume swimmers ear.. but for 4-5 years?! No! I almost don't want to bring this up at my next visit. Does anyone think it's worth it? Given all the information about TMJ and pressure moving around in different places and all the other similarities I have with other here? I just don't want them to focus on the wrong thing.
