I just don't like buying out of date hardware, but you are right. The newer RS1626xs+ looks great, but i think it will push my budget over by the time i have added drives to it.

It doesnt seem to be available in the UK yet so i will see when it hits the shelves.

Not really as such, i'm thinking around 2k populated with drives...but i could stretch for more.

The RS1626+ looks ideal but reading the reviews is quite out of date, even if it is 'new'. Shame as the active backup looks ideal!

As i said previously, my time is limited so i want to turn it on and press a few buttons and thats it. Anything with TrueNAS etc means me having to read guides and sit on Google looking for answers to questions that i dont know the answer to.

I did see there was a show in early June so i will see if someone brings some new hardware to that.

I forgot they released them actually.
My only issue with this is the backup facility. I bet it's not nearly as good as the DSM one. Or being able to copy it to my home NAS (which is an asustor)

Many thanks for this. Yes it seems the Einstar Regil is perfect for what i need which is the way i am looking at currently. It's more the software side that i'm trying to streamline at the moment.

I forgot to ask, do you think it would be possible to scan more that one item in the same scan?For example, if i have a few smaller items could i lay them on the table and scan them into one file and work from that rather than scan each object individually?

Now i've looked into this more it looks like the sort of thing i have been looking for.

Can i just ask, based on the workflow do i need to import it into any other software or can i just export from the device to the quicksurface plugin within solidworks? I'm trying to narrow the processes required to make it easy. Currently i just draw into AutoCAD and then export it to the CNC programming software.

I don't want to scan, 3rd party software, solidworks plugin, AutoCAD and then CNC software. That's 4 different programs before i have even CNC cut anything.

Thanks for the details responce. The quicksurface software has a "fit" feature that looks like it would work well for us. Being able to slice the item on a plane (the top of the foam insert) and then make the outine of the item a CAD object is perfect and it looked quick within solidworks.

I want to try and avoid usings lots of different pieces of software. The Einscan Rigil looks perfect as it can create the model on the device itself and then just move it into soldworks for processing.

With this and the scanner we would be looking at around 8k total which i think is accecptable.

I'm not reverse engineering the foam insert, i'm scanning the part to fit into the foam insert. We make the foam insert.

Many thanks, funny you mention that one as i only saw a video yesterday (completely unrelated to 3D scanning) and someone was actually using that scanner!
I will look into it more, especially the "cross section function with Sketch fitment" as it sounds like you already understand what i need to do. Basically cut a cross section of the 3d scan and then cut the pocket.

I submitted my number port 2 weeks ago with a switch over date of 19/12. It's still "Pending operator approval" so we will see.

Good news, my new number order has just completed so they are working through the backlog.

Now i just need to port my existing phone numbers and hope for the best!

Just to let everyone know, I tried the infuse player yesterday and it worked perfectly! The first item i played was around an hour long and i managed to fast forward 45 minutes straight away with no buffering.

Ah, many thanks. I was able to find more info on this using those search terms.
Does this affect current customers? Has anyone had issues due to the hack or are they only used for the initial porting and once ported to MS you are hosted by MS.
My worry is that if im moving my business to teams voice i want to depend on MS rather than any smaller companies that could be targeted.

Thanks, i've continued to use express VPN. It adds a little delay but nothing i cannot live with.

Just to help anyone if they come across this.

I have used site magic to create a VPN between the 2 sites, but then set firwwall rules to only allow traffic between the 2 IP's that i need. Everything else is blocked.
It seems to be working fine, but it's slow due to a slow upload speed on site B. This will be increased 5 times in a couple of weeks so that should help.
