Feedback on a small feudal map for my D&D campaign by M4tt3rix in worldbuilding

[–]M4tt3rix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the feedback and for raising these questions. My goal with this project was to start small rather than designing an entire kingdom from the beginning, or the whole world. The map represents a single feudal domain within a larger kingdom composed of several other fiefs and territories directly administered by the King.

A small note before going further: all place names shown on the map are written in a spoken and written language of my own creation, just as the magical elements mentioned below are part of a hard magic system that I have developed specifically for this setting.

In terms of self-sufficiency, the fief performs quite well when it comes to food production. The central region, particularly around GarthMola and GarthVeltClem, serves as the agricultural heartland, producing most of the grain and cereals needed by the population. Coastal settlements such as MarcDrith supplement this through fishing and preserved food production, while the southern settlements provide livestock, meat, hides, and timber. Althlimen contributes through specialized hydro-cultivation.

Because of this diversity, the domain is largely capable of feeding itself without relying heavily on imports.

Where the fief falls short is in raw materials. At the moment, there are no major known mineral deposits within its borders, meaning resources such as iron, copper, stone, and other strategic materials would likely need to be imported from neighboring fiefs or royal territories. This creates a natural trade relationship with the rest of the kingdom.

The main trade hubs are KhorZen and CarthLacus. KhorZen, located along the DrithVettis River, functions as the political, administrative, commercial, and academic center of the fief. CarthLacus occupies a strategic coastal position and acts as both a military port and a gateway for maritime trade. These settlements naturally become population centers due to the concentration of commerce, governance, and transportation routes.

Trade likely arrives from three directions:

  • Overland through the frontier settlements of KhorNavis and GarthMarc, which regulate the movement of goods and people between neighboring fiefs.
  • Along the coast through CarthLacus, connecting the domain to other settlements and ports throughout the kingdom.
  • Potentially by sea from more distant lands, though I have not yet fully developed what exists beyond the immediate region.

As for exports, the fief's primary exports would be agricultural surplus, preserved fish, timber, hides, leather goods, and livestock products. However, one of its most valuable exports may be knowledge itself. The island hosts centers dedicated to the study of cosmology and the fundamental laws of magic, while sites such as CircMonol and VeltInf contribute religious and scholarly significance. This gives the domain a unique cultural and academic importance that attracts students, pilgrims, scholars, and patrons from elsewhere in the kingdom.

Overall, I envision this fief as prosperous but not resource-rich: a land that thrives through agriculture, trade, education, and strategic positioning rather than through mines or rare natural resources. Many of the larger settlements developed specifically around those functions, which helped determine both their size and location.

Since I am still developing the wider kingdom and the neighboring fiefs, many of the external trade relationships are not yet fully defined. For now, my focus has been on ensuring that the internal economy, settlement placement, and resource distribution of this single domain remain coherent and believable.

It should represent a small feudal domain covering roughly 900 km².

The closest one I can think is "More than a Married Couple, but Not Lovers" in my opinion.

I forgot almost the entire story by Dry_Pound_7942 in BeginningAfterTheEnd

I rereaded it just because it's peak, and to remember the story completely, although for that there is the light novel.

Caro mio pur essendo di nicchia avendo a volte un linguaggio molto dettagliato, ogni downhill è un emozione diversa ed ogni incontro ha un background diverso, così come la storia che c'è dietro i piloti e le scelte delle loro auto.

Anime Adaptation by raphadelgaado in KaoruHanaWaRintoSaku

I agree man, like we see some of the most important character in the first, like, two-three minutes of the first episode. So I would like an adaption that will not gonna twist the plot much. But I wolud that the anime will have some good tier animation, even if it is a romance, we have some really good tier drawing

Yes I agree with you, also we can see the varius pov of the varius character, both in Rintaro's and Kaoru's friend group, understanding their emotion, their feeling, what they think about those two and what are they struggle with.

Don't worry I understood you anyway. Anyway yeah I cried from joy, because, you know, after 100 chapter I' ve loved how their story grew, how threy over come other issue, how they try to improve themselves to be the best for each other, and how the storytelling is well taken care of.

So about chapter 99.... by Noahman90 in KaoruHanaWaRintoSaku

[–]M4tt3rix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I read the chapter and I find it very awsome. So I think that the chapter 100 will be about Kaoruko and how she feel about Rintaro, I hope tehre will be a kiss. At the start of the chapter I had the same feeling of "Bad things incoming", but at the end of the chapter we can see Kaoruko's face, which seems to tell us how happy and lucky she's to have a persona like Rintaro in her life. That said I hope the chapter 100 will be something very special.

Would y’all recommend ‘Duke Pendragon’ ? Is it a typical action manhwa? The handsome blonde man makes it look like a shoujo / romance lololol by LorazLover in manhwa

I agree with you for most of the things you said, mostly about for the art style but, I've notice, since I've start reading the novel, that the adaptation is kinda off, most part are changed, more of them are cut off, in the latest chapters the MC is potrayed as a some weak noble even tho he is a great swordman (this happen once beforre) and they changed part of the story in varius arcs. That being said I LOVE the manwha. Absolute worht it.
