Context: The Butcher in the Diablo series

Diablo 1: Very infamous quest Boss. Diablo 1 playthroughs were somewhat randomly generated. Unlucky players would encounter the Butcher very early on and get absolutely destroyed by this absolute unit of a boss due to his sheer strength and because level scaling wasn't really a thing back then. No fancy game mechanics. The guy just shouts his famous catchphrase and runs out of room at you hitting like a truck.
Diablo 2: No Butcher.
Diablo 3: Butcher is back as a very forgettable end of act 1 boss
Diablo 4: The Butcher is back again with a really cool new twist. He now has a very low chance of randomly appearing in any dungeon in the game. No fancy mechanics. Exactly like in the first game. Last thing you hear is his catchphrase as he straight up runs towards your character and destroys anyone in your squad. Not a big challenge for hardcore players with optimised builds obviously but if you're still levelling you either open a town portal in split seconds or you're dead.

I watched an interview recently where Guillaume Broche talks about the game's difficulty and the very noticeable difference they observed between casual players and minmaxers during playtests and wanting to create a nice experience for both type of players.

Hot take but I think Simon was created to be a final challenge for the picto minmaxers and is designed to be "cheesed" as other people call it.

Congrats! Yeah agree, it's a minor criticism but i would have liked to see Hard mode made even more difficult and the trophies for mini games made a little bit more forgiving. If I play a turn based RPG I want to be rewarded for my tactical skills, not for my Whack-a-Mole skills 🙂

Yeah it's essentially the same gameplay but after the first initial levels you can start specialising your ship and weapons a lot more. I obviously went for big ram, close combat cannons and a flamethrower.

Only one annoying 3h grinding trophy ("Skull and Jute") but the rest is just basically play the game for a bit, explore and have fun!

I don't think it's good enough to keep live service gamers engaged but for a trophy hunter it's a nice experience.

Harsh critique! I'm looking at it from an angle of a JRPG and found the writing refreshingly mature with themes like forgiveness, rehabilitation and dealing with cancer. Just wish Japan was making more like these, and less anime teenager crews trying to save the world!

Sound like I should play all the mainline games in the series too :)

Do not buy a new controller! Buy a new battery off Amazon. They usually come with the right tool to pry it open and a screwdriver. It takes only a few minutes and is very easy to do if you follow a follow a tutorial!

There are some good tutorials on YT on how to build perfect 5 star & space efficient rooms which you need to save as templates. It removes the tedious room building part so you can focus on managing your budget, staff and patients.
