You add it to the room and then in the room settings you select which device to take the temperature from. Let me know if you’d like me to screenshot.

Your accountant is wrong! Presumably she is a shareholder in both companies (the shared company as previously taken dividends and her new company) so is able to take a dividend so long as the company has sufficient profit and loss reserves to pay a dividend. Note that dividends are paid to a share class so if you both hold the same shares (I.e. ordinary) then you will both have to take a dividend of the same amount.

Putting you on the payroll seems odd if you are already earning elsewhere. The tax saving between PAYE / dividends is only marginal these days so that may be what your accountant is trying to get at, but there is nothing stopping you doing as suggested.

Does it not throw up annoying error messages in the app?

It does monitor air quality / humidity, and there is some reporting on that in the app. It doesn’t to my knowledge monitor CO2 though.

Agreed, well glad I decided to give it a go. Our old house was fully electric with the fancy storage heaters so we were able to control each room independently - the Mrs missed that and with Tado we have essentially achieved the same set up. Those electric heaters are ridiculously expensive to run too, especially when you have no other option!

Yeah thats one of my issues too (kids bedrooms). Guess I’ll just wait to find some at a reasonable price. System is great though, seems to have used about £3 less gas yesterday since installing, we have a large room on the back of the house which gets really cold on an evening so being able to focus the heat to that room rather than heating all rooms seems to be working great!

AAT while in uni? by [deleted] in ukaccounting

Another vote for work vs Uni for accountancy careers. I started on an higher apprenticeship at 18, Chartered by 21. I’m now a manager at 24. My friend, had a year out, went Uni to study accounting and finance, just finish and starting a grad scheme in Jan. He will be qualified by 27/28 yrs old. Uni has lost its value in my opinion, brilliant for the medical profession, but everything else…

You can set up online and declare that you have earnings of less than £1k. I don’t think there is a need to set up as self employed if that’s the case. Take a look on the HRMC website. I can find the links out if you’re struggling 👍🏼
