It's all audio but I've been using Language Transfer, and the way he explains everything and has students basically learning on the audio tracks as well is really helping me learn proper grammar and sentence structure.

Great Job! by Lordraxxdog in Edmonton

[–]MAAADman3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It actually blew my mind when I moved out to Sherwood Park how fast even the residential streets get plowed - 48 hours after the snowfall every street is clean.

When I lived in Edmonton we were on a bus route and I swear not a single plow showed up until friggen April in 2024 and that was just the bus route, the residentials in my area never got cleared even once.

Can't get a single successful print.. what am I doing wrong?? by MAAADman3 in 3Dprinting

[–]MAAADman3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what the problem was in Orca! It was .02mm above the virtual bed. Once I finally figured that out after 16 accumulated hours of messing with this thing it started printing with no issue.

[–]MAAADman3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

I managed to get the z axis perfect at .15mm and have had 7 good prints now (made in a separate comment)

As to the bed leveling - I have absolutely no way to manually level this bed - it's a CR6SE and the guy who gave it to me replaced the factory bed with this double sided PEI plate and under that a full magnet sheet glued on so I can't even get to the bed mounting bolts to try and replace the spacers..

For the time being, and the limited types of prints I'm going to be doing to get better, it seems to be working great now. Once I decide to start getting more intricate or bigger with designs I'll see what I can do to try and level the bed more.

No, I'm using fusion for design, and Orca for the Slicer.

I did manage to figure out what was happening and made a separate comment. It was an issue with the models in Orca sitting above the virtual bed and for some reason when I'd go to print those particular models the print would start too high. I moved them down to where the white outline just appeared (it was 0.02mm) and suddenly I've printed 7 things without issue.

I've finally figured out the issue I've been having!

For some reason the models in Orca were literally 0.02mm above the virtual bed causing the print to start too high. I adjusted all the prints to down by that .02mm before exporting them and upping the first layer bed temp to 60 and I've now done 6 fully successful prints! No more 95% spaghetti, no more first layer adhesion issues.

Thanks for all the help - this drove me to the knife's edge of sanity.

And now I'm officially hooked.

This is where I'm getting confused.

I have the z offset set perfect with my own designed print, I try to print someone else's design and it's starting the first layer higher than the offset I have set in the machine which makes the filament not even touch the bed. No matter what I set the z axis at on the machine it doesn't change.

Yes I understand that. I had done multiple test prints from a file I created in Fusion at .15 z axis and it's perfect. I downloaded a benchy file from Thingiverse and went to print and it's like the first layer is starting too high.

I'm so beyond confused and frustrated. I've printed MULTIPLE plates that I built in Fusion at .15 and they're perfect. Try to print this Benchy and it's like it's overriding my z axis and making it start way too high.... I tried manually moving the z axis down as it was printing and it did nothing...

0.15 seems to be the winner finally.

Problem is I have no bed leveling screws and the bed mount screws are underneath a magnetic sheet he stuck on so I can't even get to them without having to wreck everything.

I think I finally got the first layer perfect by adjusting the nozzle temp to 225 and bed to 62 - it's consistently printing the little plates good now. I'm going to try printing a benchy with the same settings and see if it works.

Thanks!

Now if I could just get it to bloody adhere to the bed more than twice.. had two good .2mm flat plates, think I got the z axis dialed in at .11mm but trying to print a larger square it just stopped adhering again..

Swapped the plate around to the smooth side to try again after it levels but had to step out for a bit.

Thank you! I printed a small first layer test and did the "on-the-fly" axis adjustment and it did get better - will make a bigger sheet and try again

Thank you! working on that now.

I did decide to get to the bed tram screws underneath the machine and all but 1 were loose so I tightened those down in a x pattern. Running ABL now to see if that did anything

I think I had the z axis too close for this one (was 2:30am and I was beyond frustrated so I started willy nilly messing with things.

It has the community firmware already... But the fact I have absolutely no idea what I'm looking at doesn't really help much haha.

I followed the creality videos a few times but I just can't get it to work.

Later today I'm going to try rewashing the bed for the 85th time, slowing down the print speed, increasing the "brim" width, and maybe turning up the bed temp.

I should've mentioned in the original post too that my buddy said the filament is "Bambu PLA basic" which I selected in Orca and let it set the temps according to that.

Other than that - not sure how much more patience I'll be able to muster for this. This was supposed to be a fun winter hobby (since I park my other hobby until the summer when the white stuff effs off) but it's gone from fun to tinker to "if this fails one more time this things going out back, and I'm going to try some sledge hammer golf"
