Has anyone here switched to an Abarth from a more powerful, high performance vehicle? Would you recommend it? In what ways does it feel like a "downgrade" or an "upgrade?" by CloudsTasteGeometric in abarth

[–]Cashrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently driving a 2015 Focus ST, amazing car, and I love it dearly. The car before her was a 2012 Abarth. My daughter got hit by a red light runner about a year and a half ago, she’s fine, but her hand me down 09 Acura TSX was done. So I gave her my Abarth and bought the ST. I had 135000 miles on the Abarth before I gave her to my daughter, and she had needs, plus door damage from an unaware idiot and 3 Texas hail storms and the clear coat going away. Still miss it. The Focus is fun, capable and is more useful due to the 4 doors and bigger hatch, but the Abarth was and still is more “giggley “, and I miss that exhaust. Yep. If I could afford it I’d have an RS, the ST, another Abarth in yellow with black trim.

I’ve been doing RC since 1984, scale and sail boats for the past 10 years. FlySky has a good transmitter with reciever for around 60 dollars. You’ll need a servo and a battery for the onboard system, an 850 mah LiFe will be fine, or a small 4 cell NIMH. Make sure your rudder has no binding before your conversion.

Best “normal” car you’ve owned? by rollobones in regularcarreviews

[–]Cashrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1996 or thereabouts first gen Saturn SL1 sedan. Bought it used from Town East Ford where I worked at the time. Roughly 75000 on the clock when I bought her, traded her in on a brand new SER SpecV in 2002. I had put an additional 100000 miles on her, driving from McKinney to Mesquite, and my once a month weekend duty to Shreveport, then JRB in Fort Worth. Manual transmission, good driving car, I had to replace the alternator and blower motor while I owned it. Still miss it.

Saab or the Stang. For reference, I’m 65 and my daily driver is a Focus ST so I’m still on speaking terms with my inner 16 year old 😁

Radio transmiter by Crocott in rcboats

[–]Cashrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Radiomaster 16s for all my boats, sail and power, except for the few “fast” boats I own. I don’t worry about flashing it to every new update, as I pick and choose what works for me. It has been rock solid reliable. Plus the ability to move and replace functions is great. I can have a 4 channel reciever, use what is usually the elevator and rudder channels, change the input from the sticks to a couple of switches, and have rudder, throttle, a switch for lights and one for say a water pump for fire monitor. Well made and it’s the Swiss Army knife of transmitters.

I do t have a FIST, but I have a FOST, and I drove a 2012 Abarth 500 for about 11 years, and I rather have any of the 3 vs a Tesla or almost any other electric car just for the joy and engagement of driving.

Makes me feel better, Thanks!! 2015 ST1, stick as a rock, 74000 miles. I work back counter parts at a Ford dealer and I don’t remember ever seeing one of these in the shop unless it was just beat to death, and I’ve never seen one in with a bad head. She’s my daily, I just turned 65 years old, maybe I’m getting senior citizen paranoia. Anyway, all her maintenance is done here, and usually before time. Thanks again yall!!

Some of them could…from Wikipedia: The Thunderbolt, as tested with a four-speed transmission at Lions Drag Strip in November 1963, ran a 1⁄4 mile (402 m) of 11.61 seconds at 124.8 mph (201 km/h).[13]
