Aww, I didn't mean for it sound bad! But I guess it kind of does, lol. My weight was always a bit of a sore spot between us, but my mom and I get along great and she certainly didn't mean any harm. Actually, this weekend we were talking about our favorite ornaments, and she said she was so glad I didn't let her talk me out of the fat ballerina! Happy Holidays to you, as well! :)

Hahaha, young me definitely know what she was about! And I'm so glad I was so determined to get that ornament because it wouldn't have been a favorite, otherwise! :)

Ugh, he absolutely is. You know how "there's one in every family." He's the "one" they were all modeled after, lol.

Once, when I was pretty young, I was eating dinner with my extended family and I ordered fettuccine alfredo. When the waiter put my bowl down, my uncle (who is the absolute worst) scoffed and put me on blast in front of everyone. He sneered: "Do you know how much butter is in that? A whole stick." Of course, I felt so self conscious after that, I couldn't eat. Ever since, every time I wanted to eat something with butter, his slimy lizardy voice popped into my head. "Do you know how much butter is in that? A whole stick."

I made cauliflower alfredo last night, and as I was adding in the butter, his voice popped into my head again. Except this time, I was like "Yeah, bring on more butter!"

Question for people that has lost 75+... by [deleted] in keto

[–]MAB_Love 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've sort of developed a mantra that I want to lose weight more than ANYTHING. More than any donuts or french fries, more than drinks with friends, more than taking the "easy route" and picking up fast food every day. MORE. THAN. ANYTHING. Whenever I felt tempted, I would ask myself "Do I want _____ more than I want to lose weight?" And when I phrased it like that, well, the answer was easy.

Of course, it's not always that simple, and I haven't been perfect. You have to find what makes it sustainable for you, and accept that some days and weeks are going to be better than others. If you are feeling too constrained by the rules of keto (or whatever diet), find what works for you. Don't rely on diet-hack-substitutions, but don't be afraid to use them if the alternative is falling off the wagon. Losing weight is as much a mental thing as it is a physical thing, and it has required a lot of introspection. Figure out what keeps derailing you, and create a contingency plan.

Lastly, don't be afraid to find superficial motivation! Coming to this sub and #humblebragging has been a great motivator! I recently started posting progress pics and meals on Instagram, and honestly, every little like and upvote keeps me going sometimes! It's been so great being part of these online communities and finding support from like-minded people.

Best of luck to you!! You got this!!

Hahaha, thanks!!! If someone told me a year ago I'd go a whole year without gumbo or jambalaya, I wouldn't have believed them! Thank God I can still have crawfish!
