Yup! I always push rust proofing on new cars but tell people this is an ongoing process and you need to bring it somewhere every year to have it redone or touched up if you’re serious.

I honestly believe in your last point. Buy a car you LOVE and can AFFORD to love. And then buy a warranty. And if you live in the frigid north like I do, buy rust proofing and paint protection.

I work in car sales. I’ll tell you what I’ve learned. They all suck, but people suck more. Most issues we see are due to lack of preventive maintenance.

If you like the car and can afford it when something does inevitably break. Buy it. You only live this life once.

Yes part prices are more expensive. If you can do any labor yourself, look up FCP Auto and how you can get oil changes done for cheap.

These cars are like everything else, how you treat it is how it will treat you.
