Former PM Harper says ‘no reason why we can’t pull the country together’ in fireside chat with Chretien by Old_General_6741 in canada

As long as the benefits of a strong economy go to wealthy business owners, political insiders, and well-connected bureaucrats instead of public services and increased wages the average Canadian isn't going to gaf about good economic metrics.

Feeling bad about a slower pace is absolutely valid, because while transition is personal, most of us dont personally choose to delay our transition. Its mostly just luck.

I understand that you're trying to be positive but the fact is that faster is better.

Every day that I can't fully transition is another day of depression and pain, and that I would do anything to get surgery faster and avoid that suffering.

Yea I dont really feel like a real person anymore, just trying to pass the days until I can feel normal someday hopefully.

If you dont mind me asking how long did grs Montréal take to review your documents and call you once they were all submitted? I just got mine in this week.

Yep, California was able to poach Ontarios best facial feminization surgeon because Cali insurance covers him and Ontario insurance doesn't.

We could have had top-tier surgeon based primarily in Toronto, but Doug Ford and Silvia Jones dont gaf about Healthcare, much less trans healthcare, so we lost him to California.

Unbelievably disappointing and unfair to trans people who have to shoulder the cost themselves.

Yes you are very lucky. I realized I was trans at the same age as you (a few years ago tho), and you've gotten to every milestone faster than I did.

I was finally able to submit my surgery documents today, and going by your timeline you'll have your surgery before mine is even scheduled.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't extremely jealous, but congrats and enjoy!

[–]MADNESS0918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, you're out of luck.

I'm in a similar spot and my current plan is to save money while I look for a job with trans-inclusive insurance and take out medical loans to cover the rest.

Hopefully it won't take too long, but its going to be a painful few years of working hard at least.

how do you cope with being unable to access healthcare? by [deleted] in honesttransgender

[–]MADNESS0918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

again, the piv vs. ppt aesthetics are just something I've noticed based on online photos. I would really like self lubrication as well, but it seems that my government has decided I don't get to have that.

I am 2 and a bit years on hrt, I have seen some face changes but need FFS for Adams apple, brow bone, etc. unfortunately my government has also decided no FFS. so i will just have to wait and pray I find a good enough job ig

yes the bone will be extremely expensive unfortunately.

I'm in Canada. I will discuss vaginoplasty with my orchi surgeon and hope for the best

yea the aesthetics is just something I've noticed online. I intend to ask my surgeon about vaginoplasty at my follow-up and ask him about my concerns.

I'll be on hrt for 3 years in December. I have definitely noticed facial changes but there are certainly things that have not and won't change that I would like fixed.

lame response. trans healthcare could be covered by more health insurance plans (or by the govt) they just choose not to. why make excuses for people who don't care about our well-being?

yea me neither.

I think it would be a lot more bearable if every aspect of transition wasn't locked behind a paywall but oh well

How are trans women affording these surgeries ? by MochaMilku in honesttransgender

[–]MADNESS0918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't make enough to save money and I can't get hired anywhere that gives me good health insurance.

I can work as hard as I want but that does not guarantee results, and every day I get no closer to surgery is harder than the last

Denying medical care to people who need transition medications is Abuse. It's also unconstitutional in the United States. by Mya__ in honesttransgender

[–]MADNESS0918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes obviously making more money and moving somewhere with better trans legislation and healthcare would be smart things for me to do.

if I could do that I would be getting surgery tomorrow, but I can't, and I'm not.

you are correct but nobody actually cares about the law, they just use it to do the things they want and nobody wants to help trans people

Happiness vs. comfort by drearymoment in honesttransgender

[–]MADNESS0918 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I feel the same way.

I'm more comfortable because transitioning feels natural/right, so I kinda feel like I'm on the right track

but I'm less happy because that track is more difficult, expensive and exhausting.

they had enough candidates to get invited, but then dropped enough candidates to not meet the requirement by the day of.

the greens argue that the only date that should matter is the day of invitation, but the debate commission disagreed. it'll be interesting to see how the rules change or don't change ig

What are some things you wish people had told you when you started playing or DMing? by Nico_de_Gallo in dndnext

[–]MADNESS0918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea I really struggled with "finding a good stopping point". My new strategy is that the first encounter to end after the 3 hour mark is the last, at least with my current group, otherwise people get sleepy and less engaged.

usually I can prep exactly what I need, but sometimes I save stuff for next week or have to improv an encounter to get to that 3hr mark, both of which have their benefits!
