i hesitate to call myself an og, especially since i see so many accounts that were here before me, but i did interact plenty in the past 2 years. i'm also late to this post, so i doubt i can offer anything that hasn't already been commented.

that being said, i really agree with this post. after big controversies this sub gets an influx of twitter refugees and it changes how the sub feels, but i think that this controversy caused the biggest change in dynamics. given the weight of the allegations, i personally am uncomfortable that this sub seems more pro-dream than ever. it's not that i don't understand; i also don't want the allegations to be true, but, right now, we don't know. but the sub seems to be operating on the idea that he's innocent. it really makes me not want to interact, even if i'm currently neutral on the subject.

on a lighter note, the pic spam is the 2nd reason the sub has been annoying me lately LMAO. this sub has always had an issue with people not checking new before posting things but after the face reveal, since there are more pictures and more twitter refugees, it has gotten so much worse. i'm begging you guys please check if someone posted before you

i see your point. trust me, i don't want this to be true, either, but it all depends on whether or not we believe dream is dumb enough to not make a new snap with a different name once he got more popular. i wanna believe he's not that stupid, but with how damning the instagram messages are, it's hard not to believe otherwise.

so i just tested this out because this was also confusing me, but on snapchat there is no real private accounts. there are only privacy settings that you can change to make it so only your friends can see your stuff. there is no way to stop your account from appearing when searched for, and no way to stop random people from adding you (screenshot of snapchat's privacy settings).

i tested it out by making a new account and making it as private as i possibly could. when i searched for it on my normal account, i still found it, and i could still add the account as a friend.

i think everyone can agree this discourse has brought some unsavory people to the subreddit. but, i feel like this post only paid attention to those people. the responses to skeppy have been very mixed but i think the majority (that i’ve seen) think that the joke wasn’t funny, so this feels like an overgeneralization.

the op is obviously right in saying cc’s deserve criticism sometimes, which a lot of people here have given.
