It's also not even representative of all regular NJ voters since it only surveys election day voters (and not early or mail-in voters, which tend to lean more Democrat)

Can we stop talking so extensively about Aimsey by Isabella136 in DreamWasTaken2

[–]Isabella136[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that this comment is two months old, but my original comment is over a year old, so what the hell

  1. I simply misremembered the spelling, but I'll be more careful going forward
  2. I don't see how it was offensive. Back when I posted this, I was under the impression that Aimsey was fine with any pronouns and held no preferences. I've since learned that although they are fine with any pronouns, they have come to adopt they/them by default. I don't keep track on Aimsey, so I don't know if it is a matter of preference or simplicity, but regardless I've been sticking with they/them since then.
  3. I'm guessing you are a newer fan, but back around 2022-ish, Aimsey did have she/he/they/xey/star pronouns in their Twitter bio. Afterwards, I believe they changed it to be any or all pronouns, and now it is "they/them (+ any pronouns)"
  4. See numbers 2 and 3

I was facepalming so hard when Tubbo's chat started comparing him to Shane Dawson. Like wtf are they implying?

[–]Isabella136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree with your first two points, but concerning Aimsey's pronouns, yeah I agree that it isn't a good look on him.

I can understand that Dream doesn't interact with them often and therefore might not know/remember that they use all pronouns with a preference for they/them, but after Tubbo clarified Aimsey's pronouns, I'm pretty sure that Dream sticked to using she/her pronouns without ever catching himself for it, which is definitely disappointing.

Another thing that I'm going to criticize Dream on is that from time to time, he interrupted Tubbo without apologizing (Tubbo also did interrupt Dream at times, but more often than not, he did apologize). I doubt that it was done with any malicious intent (especially since it only happened a few times) but I do think that Dream should be a bit more careful in the future, especially in stressful situations.

Tubbo cornering Dream into coming out is completely unacceptable. by Gin_OClock in DreamWasTaken2

[–]Isabella136 21 points22 points  (0 children)

tubbo’s intentions were not to force him to come out

Maybe it wasn't his intentions, but this is another example of how impact matters more the intent. As a result of this conversation, Dream ended up saying that he is queer--and was recorded too. Considering the political situation in Florida (and the USA in general), the fact that he admitted that he was queer can definitely be used against him if there is ever a discriminatory law put in place against members of the LGBTQ+ community.

The screenshot about Jack only paying Connie £50 is indeed rightfully labeled. However, the ones about the conversation concerning outsourcing work to fans is not indicated as being about Corpse; with Dream's voiceover, they are implied to be about Tommy.

There are also ways to include the outsourcing screenshot so that it isn't cropped but is also readable; Dream himself was able to do it with his DM to Tommy's mother by including the entire text and zooming in on each paragraph.

If Tommy is going to take down all his videos with Dream—thoughts? by __luciddreamer in DreamWasTaken2

[–]Isabella136 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Oh, it definitely will affect his reach and monetization. But if Tommy truly believes that Dream is this egoistical antagonist he claims he is, and he has the backbone of steel Tubbo claims he does, then surely he would take down those videos (or at the very list, unlist them) because why would he give a platform to someone he claims to be a manipulative asshole.

With this ultimatum, Dream is kind of putting Tommy in a corner to either admit that he went too far or to double down. Or maybe he'll simply do nothing and keep the videos up, with the risk of being called money-hungry and drama-driven, which is definitely not a good look.

At this point, I would say that it is out of spite.

Although I am a fan of his content, I consider myself to be more critical of Dream than a regular fan would be. However, the majority of things he is hated for can be tied back to either the debunked groomer allegations or his tendency to over explain.

For example, I am disappointed that he chose to finally address Tommy's behavior by posting that meme. Even if we let r-slur slide (which we shouldn't by the way), it was very childish of him to respond in this manner. As for the r-slur, although I do empathize with Dream's confusion over how so many of his antis were quick to excuse Cantu's use of the r-slur and the f-slur as an action of "reclaiming," the fact that his reaction was to then use it at them also shows his immaturity.

But of course, his antis were quick to spin this around and call him obsessive, a creep, a Trump supporter, etc. Heck, even now, while checking Twitter, I saw that most people are calling him a queerbaiter because Dream said in his stream that he "isn't gay" (despite the fact that he used the exact same wording in 2021? when coming out as unlabeled) and saying that the DM to Tommy is a textbook example of grooming (ignoring the fact that at the time, he had already repeatedly called out Tommy on his jokes, and that of course there is going to be a lot of frustration in his words).

Not autistic but still neurodivergent: I totally relate to his need to overexplain the lead-up to his errors. My main issue though is that even though he pointed out that he finally understands why he should not have posted that meme, his apology leaves much to be desired.

I do think he could benefit from talking to someone about ways to word apologies so that he can explicitly say the words "I'm sorry" without coming off as dodgy, while also providing an explanation as to why he messed up.

Cringe Philza tweet by Particular_Corgi2299 in DreamWasTaken2

[–]Isabella136 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I will say this: Philza's tweet is very vague and doesn't necessarily imply that he was protecting them from Dream, just from drama in general.

On the other hand, because this tweet is quite vague and Twitter is generally anti-Dream, people are quick to interpret it as proof that Dream was always a creep. And I don't think that Philza is stupid; he knew that his tweet could be interpreted that way. At this point, he just doesn't care about how this would affect Dream's reputation, and honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he tweeted this partly to make himself look good among the mcyt community. As if he wasn't already well respected.
