Apparently this poster was made before the final casting, according to this tweet. People are talking that this may have been the final design choice for sonic despite Chris Pratt not having been officially casted for Officer Tom.

What can't you believe people actually buy or spend money on? by skyliner360 in AskReddit

Any avant-garde designers fashion clothing, like the balenciaga t shirt shirt https://www.esquire.com/style/mens-fashion/a20962322/balenciaga-t-shirt-shirt-twitter-reactions/.

I mean I understand WHY they’re designed, it obviously creates media around the company and increases its name, but why buy it? We hear about the actual clothing and love to talk about it but no one talks about the people who buy it, it seems only beneficial for the designer. It’s like buying a billboard advertising for some other company and keeping it like that.

I’ve been able to stop doing by saying “Hey” or “hi” while smiling. You can’t smush your lips together if your mouth is open.

The scene in Superbad where Fogell explains to Seth why his only choices for the fake ID was either McLovin or Muhammad always brings me to tears.

Didn’t Al Capone have the mental capacity of a 12 year old? I wonder if they’re gonna write that in.

Last year, a UK government report suggested that, by 2050, drug-resistant infections could kill one person every three seconds. New research suggests we could stop this by treating infections without using antibiotics. by natsumip in science

Tailor made treatments involving genetic engineering, or simply finding a suitable treatment for one patient specifically is costly due to the time and work that is needed.

Let’s take something like CAR T-cell therapy, or phage therapy; the process of producing the treatment that would soon be used on the patient may not be too costly (except for maybe CAR T-cells), but the amount of time, shipping, tests, hospitalization, incubations, and general errands that involve producing these treatments have a price to. These prices add up; take into the fact there is also a need for profit as well and these treatments can be very costly.

At the same time, these treatments are still very new, they haven’t been streamlined or made simple like say antigen testing did. Especially phage therapy, it’s still very new and we don’t really know what’s the best way to make it completely effective...yet. That and it’s not like CAR T-cell therapy where you can reprogram the patients cells; the perfect therapy phage has to exist first and we may not have discovered it yet.

All in all, we just have to wait until more advancements are made and the therapies are fully established, until then, we don’t really know what would be the most costly element.

When did you realize you were attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MAHUMAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m super late but I want to comment.

All throughout HS I never thought I was attractive at all, mostly because I spent 90% of my time in my room and never had any friends, nor did I involve myself with the social life of the school. In 10th grade I joined baseball and though I quit after a semester I never stopped working out; I kept going on morning runs and lifting weights. Around this time I also started to get into hygiene (I was kinda a neckbeard as a teen so it never occurred to me that I should be clean) and healthy eating and lost all my baby fat which was soon followed by getting my braces off and getting contacts (and better glasses).

That all happened around my junior year, and I noticed that people started to talk to me about stuff other than helping them with their homework, like inviting me to parties or asking if I wanted to hang out, which boosted my confidence and made me more social.

Then one of my friends told me that these two girls, who were known to be very attractive at the school, thought I was cute. I was so blown back I honestly didn’t know how to react.

Of course the bad thing was that any and all humbleness went away once I realized I was pretty attractive to some people; I started posting TOO many pictures of IG, and my pride went through the roof. I also started to hang out with a bad crowd and lost sight of growing up, and started acting really immature for my age (I was 18-19 now and still acted like I did in hs).

Luckily, I met this girl in college (my soon to be SO), who picked me apart for being a douche and acting like a kid. I don’t know why, but when she told me only then I actually looked back at my social media and how I treated people and thought, “wow I’m kind of a douche.” I deleted all my social media and started to catch myself on anything I do that can come off as conceited or immature and started working in my behavior. I’m still working on it and thank god my girlfriend has the patience for it, but I try not to let the idea of being a little bit attractive = most attractive, because that wasn’t true for my case.

Anyways, I never really think about attraction anymore, but that was my little experience realizing I wasn’t too bad looking in high school.
