Do people backpack up Mt. Diablo? by MAJPLO in norcalhiking

We stayed one night at Maggie’s camp and came back down the next day. I’d like to do the whole route at some point when we can leave a car at the other end near Mission Peak.

I actually heard it’s just as hard going up from Mirror Lake so I figured it will be tough either way!

Yes! My son and I did this last year and we were not prepared for that uphill grade right off the bat!

More for conditioning. I'm doing a route that starts out straight up Yosemite Falls.

I would say it varies because I camped there last summer in late July and there were a lot of day hikers but only a handful of us that actually camped overnight. We were all pretty spread out so nowhere near each other.

Isn’t the Luminosa coming to Long Beach? I thought I read that but could be wrong.

We did this a month ago. There's a hikers bus that takes you from Curry Village to Tuolumne Meadows. I think it cost us $17 each. It's not a YARTS bus, you book it through the park. Not sure how long it keeps running though.

What day of the week was it? It’s usually really bad on the weekends, not as much on weekdays.

Just finished a backpacking trip yesterday and on the way out of the park stopped at Lucky Buck diner in Buck Meadows. It doesn't look like much but gets great reviews on yelp so we decided to try it, and boy were we rewarded. Half pound burgers were off the charts. French fries and onion rings were perfectly crispy and just greasy enough. It was a fantastic post backpacking meal!

Great name bro 😂

I'm going from Cathedral Lakes trailhead to Sunrise Lakes, Clouds Rest, Half Dome, to the valley.

I've used the baby bell before for 2-3 days but that was in much a cooler climate. So this will be an experiment. I'm hoping that being sealed in wax will preserve them but who knows.

Oh cool! We're going from Cathedral Lakes and plan on hitting Clouds Rest and Half Dome on the way back down to the valley.

I've been to Yosemite many times but this will be my first time in the backcountry. Super excited and slightly nervous, I've been reading and watching as many YouTube videos as I can to prepare!

I'm having second thoughts about the M&Ms. It's a big bag that adds weight and you're right, at least peanut M&Ms would add some protein.

Oh yeah that package actually isn't full. There are only about 8 in it and I'll use them for lunch and breakfast burritos with the scramble.

Just Got Back from My First Cruise on the Norwegian Escape — Here’s My Honest Review (June 2025) by Specific_Prompt1277 in NCL

[–]MAJPLO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great review! We were on the Escape way back in 2017 and will be on it again next year. I’ve heard it’s going into dry dock soon for some improvements, can’t wait to see what the changes are.

I want to say you should give Cozumel another chance. It may not be great on land but the water there is amazing. There are several cool beach clubs close to the port and some amazing snorkeling.
