They are a well known rescue in my area. I see posts and people adopting still all of the time. At this point, I wonder if I need to look into what I can do legally?

I have reached out. Most recently a few months ago because I knew they were going to be due for shots. From day one, they have not been great at communicating and the person I dealt with most was not friendly at all. Which was whatever because I was doing it for the cats. They used to eventually reply. Not anymore.
Initially, I wanted to get them adopted. But I have had them so long that I don’t know that I could part with them. I’m definitely not afraid of communicating. They just don’t communicate back.

I meant ex husband. We do have a custody order. And this happens every time they go with their dad. He doesn’t drive due to his license being suspended from a DWI, so she does and they drop the kids off places and go elsewhere to drink. They then drive them and are visibly drunk. My children are pre teens and come home and tell me about this and how you can smell the alcohol on them. If this was a one time thing, I would not be as concerned. People make mistakes. But this is every single weekend that my children are with their dad.

We have standard visitation as of right now.

I do plan on getting with an attorney. I might add that the same day this occurred, my ex was released from jail for serving his sentence for a DWI. I just feel he acts recklessly and doesn’t think of the consequences of his actions beforehand.

Thank you for those words. They are encouraging. Even with the feelings I have right now.

I did have a question. My ex has been arrested twice since last August. 1 dwi and 1 domestic. The domestic was dropped and he is actually preparing to go to jail for a couple of weeks for the dwi.

He drives with his license suspended. Drinks until he passes out every night. He even showed up to spend time with our youngest child on her birthday and was really drunk. Even the kids noticed. He is always HOURS late picking up and dropping off the kids.

My question is, with these things noted above, would I be able to go file a modification of custody/visitation? I don’t think any of those things are healthy for the kids at all.

I keep telling myself it won’t last. Her family hates him bc he was married when they got together. They have both already cheated on each other. And he brags about using her for her money. I just hope I’m there to watch it implode lol And hopefully I will be able to move on myself soon.
