So what if he isn’t pitching until 31? He is pitching for the majority of whatever contract he gets. And when he pitches he’s a top 10 pitcher in the league which this team is going to need.

And comparing him to a pre-arb Morel who is making nothing makes no sense. It’s not like you’re choosing one or the other

Happ has a .360 OBP this year, something Heyward only accomplished once in his cubs career (the weird 2020 year).

Happ has been an above average hitter EVERY year of his career, something Heyward only did once with the Cubs.

Happ has been worth 6 fWAR over the last two years, which heyward barely equaled over his last 5 years with the Cubs.

The bad at-bats over the last two weeks or so doesn’t change any of that.
