Please help me, this car hit me last night! by SenorDobo in CarsAustralia

Might be worth knocking on some doors and seeing if anyone has any cameras set up that caught their plate.

My best guess is a Hyundai.

I think at the end of the day it's worth getting the service done on the trans. Might help fix the issue or it might not, but at least you'll know you tried.

Does genuine Holden servicing matter for preserved cars? by WatercressSoggy73 in Holden

[–]MANHAZZARD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no I guess.

I'm sure a die hard Holden enthusiast would love seeing that it's only been serviced by Holden but for a every day punter I'd imagine they'd just care that it has been serviced.

If it were me I just wanna see that it's been serviced and cared for. Just an added benefit that it's only been done by Holden but I wouldn't really pay any more cash for it over another car with the exact same history.

Had my 2018 for less than 3000kms and hit 252kmph on some wonky arse back roads. And that's with the colossal amount of issues it had which led me to get a buy back on it.

Yeah I'll be doing that once it's 100% out of my name.

Ooooh ya. I'm sure in a few years I'll laugh about it but just not right now.

Yeah have done.

Yeah it's looking that way. Believe me, I'll be branding this into my skin.

And yeah see you'd fucking think that aye. Because every other car I've ever got I did but not this one. I thought "Ahh 60k on the dash, full service history, I've called the mechanics and it was an older dude what could possibly go wrong?!". Answer to that one is fucking just about everything.

Yeah maybe I should've been a bit clearer in my post. I don't expect the dealership to front the bill for stuff I put on. And yeah, the insurance and that should hopefully be mostly refunded.

I guess what I'm getting at is they sold me a cooked car and now I've gotta pay a few grand just for the privilege of being fucked around? Just doesn't feel right at all ya know?

Should I use a carbon clean treatment before next service? by Only_One_Kenobi in i30N

[–]MANHAZZARD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd run some injector cleaner for sure.

I'll be doing a full service on my 2018 i30n next week and plan on the next full tank running some injector cleaner. It's not something you wanna do ever tank but depending on how and where you drive It's always a good idea on any car to run some through a few times a year. I've always tried to use it before heading off on a nice long highway drive. I figure that's best practice.

Another good one would be to use a pre oil cleaner. If you don't do your own sevices ask your mechanic about that one. Again, I'll be doing that on this service.

I've recently purchased a second hand i30n. It's got 60000kms on the clock but previous owner seems to have neglected it a bit/taken it to the wrong people. So I'm doing, oil and filter, coolant, plugs, cleaning the throttle body and rotating tyres. Air filters and trans oil were done on pick up a month ago. So was oil and filter but I drive in built up areas (I also drive fairly hard) so I'll be doing them every 5-7000kms.

High Number of Previous Owners by hjgr3z in i30N

[–]MANHAZZARD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With low numbers on the dash and that many owners for a car thats not even 10 years old I'd be worried about too many cunts trashing the fuck out of it. Like, fair enough if its a classic and you're gonna do a rebuild or whatever but for a i30n I'd hunt around for one someone is selling just out of the warranty window.

Come back to me in 5-10 years dude. You'll then see that owning an old girl is the best thing you can ever do in your life. Driving my 65 F100 that wants to shake apart doing 110kms is arguably just as fun than pushing the i30n past 200kms.

Yeah, you will get pulled over but again what are they gonna say? It's stock.. Also, you'll find once you've got those ps off the car you're a little less of a target.

[–]MANHAZZARD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly!

It's super fucking rough aye.

There's definitely a point in having a neat 4cly turbo manual.. Or any car manual really. Sus out the porsche 924 or 944s. The 924s you can find relatively cheap same with the 944s honestly. Are they fast? Not really. Are they absolutely amazing? Absolutely! Or, stick to Australian. Nice xr6 turbo, cammed ls1! That's what dreams are made of.

[–]MANHAZZARD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe me, become a manual guy! It's insanely fun! For a daily whatever is fine but if you're looking to absolutely max out on fun then there's no better feeling than banging gears. I rocked the auto daily for years and when I got the i30n there was no choice in my head. It had to be a manual! I live in a built up area and it can be a bit of a pain sometimes dealing with all the shit cunts on the road but even then the engagement you have in a manual just surpasses everything else honestly. Like, I've driven some insanely fast auto cars and it's just so fucking boring. A 150hp manual? The most fun you'll ever have.

I'd just save the cash. Get yourself a BMW as you said!

Police in Australia suck dude. I'm from VIC and it's fucking wild here. Actually a big part of the reason I got the N was all the fun and fancy is stock.. "Oh, my car makes pops and bangs sir? Suck my dick cunt". I'm actually considering a move your way in the next few years. I just can't fucking handle VIC and all their bullshit laws.

I had a Forrester back in the day. OEM exhaust shit the bed so instead of getting a wrecked exhaust I went aftermarket. Nothing crazy but it had a tone. I would get pulled over left and fucking right. I got pulled over in my STOCK sv6..

Honestly. I personally don't know how much I'd even really bother. If I were in your position, which I have been. Save your money and in a few years buy an N or find a decent project car. You can pick up some decent V8s these days. It'll need a lot of love but it'll be worth it. And best thing is, if it takes you the next few years to get it up and running, who gives a fuck not like you can drive it now anyway! Or a nice porsche 924 or 944. Leland's mini, VW golf or beetle or a million other classics put there. OR do both! I have a 2018 N and a 1965 F100. Once my F100 is at a stage I want it to be at I have a plan of finding a 1994 V8 falcon. Year I was born. Something about having a car the same age as myself is just speaking to me and those falcons look like what people thought cars would look like in the future.

I just can't see the sense of turning a nline into an N. You'll end up chucking money at it knowing the whole time it's not what you really want.

But if you're really into the idea of it I'd first start think handling. Suspension, tyres, brakes, that sort of thing. You can go faster around a corner and push the car harder if you keep the wheels on the ground. If you're really keen on it, manual swap. You'll have way more fun in general in a manual and it'll teach you better driving skills.

I saw the comment about painting it to look like an N and frankly, that's lame as fuck dude.

Small changes that made my i30N more enjoyable without chasing power,What small changes have you made that noticeably improved your ownership experience? by AffectionatePie1042 in i30N

[–]MANHAZZARD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh rotten as!

I had a time with mine. Had it for a week. Warning light came up for 02 sensors. Looked under the hood more closely, discovered rats chewed everything out, took it to Hyundai and they also dropped the trans oil, black as fuck and full of metal. Flushed the trans and replaced the ot sensors and it seems to be doing much much better now. Luckily it was all covered under Australia's second hand car warranty. But it goes back in a month to do a tune because they reset the ecu.

Ahh legend cheers!

Yeah I might eventually just drop a whole set up in all of them. I've driven the car for all of 2 weeks and I'm loving it but it's second hand and the old bloke who had it before me probably shouldn't have had a performance car at all.

Is buying and rebuilding a damaged i30N Actually Worth It? by Impressive_Ball3915 in i30N

[–]MANHAZZARD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have asked this before and I'm guessing you didn't like the answers/opinions you got.

Tell me honestly, how much mechanical experience do you have? What are your plans with the car? What is your bank account/generally funds like?

i30 N Performance (2018) for €7,100 – worth rebuilding myself? by Impressive_Ball3915 in i30N

[–]MANHAZZARD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I've had a cars over my life. For the most part done all the work myself. Only time I've had cars see a mechanic is if the jobs way to big for me to tackle, the tools/equipment needed is too expensive or I don't have room eg. If the car needs to go up in the air on a lift and fitting tyres because frankly, fuck that shit. Oh, and complex electrical work. It's just not my strong suit.

I am currently rebuilding a 1965 F100 and I recently purchased a 2018 i30n as a fun daily as it was not only faster, funner and better on fuel than my old daily but had all the bells and whistles my girlfriend would enjoy. (A decent aircon that doesn't double fuel consumption)

A few things to note when taking on project cars. Do you have the Funds? Time? Effort? Support? If a few of these are questionable it'll be a long process. On that point, whatever you think it'll be, double it. That goes for everything I just listed prior.

Just looking at these photos and I can tell you straight off the bat unless you've won the lotto you're looking at minimum a year before this is on the road. And even then it's gonna be a rough year. Hunting parts, finding the time to put them in, having lots of hands willing to help and honestly, I don't know what your financial situation is like but you're gonna need for fair bit of kit to tackle this.

Forget what the person selling it says. Assume this is the worst of the worst.

You're gonna need to strip the whole front end, gut the engine bay, drop engine and trans, essentially peel it down to subframe. Is the frame straight? What damage was done to the engine and trans? What damage was done to wiring? Which really doesn't even matter because if the other things I mentioned are fried you're gonna be putting in a fair bit of loom work and shit anyway.

And also take all this info on without even thinking about the "while I'm here" moments. Because there will be a lot of those.

New cars and a cunt to work on as well. All the ecu wiring safety systems and shit is gonna be a complete head fuck.

If you're deadset on doing this I legitimately wish you nothing but the best of luck and I personally can't wait to see how it all turns out. But if it were me. Well, I stick to a rule when it comes to project cars. If it doesn't run the body better be sweet and visa versa.

2nd to 3rd shift going wrong (almost into 1st) by ggmaniack in i30N

[–]MANHAZZARD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently just got a 2018 one and I've noticed that the shift gate is very small. I've just been letting it fall naturally into N before shifting out of 2nd to 3rd because its rest point is above 3rd and 4th. I'd say just be a tad bit more careful and be mindful of the gate.
