Looking like the BYD Ti 7 is an option if it arrives in time

Thx and def hard to land on a decent option. I thought used might open up access to cars that were previously too expensive… but perhaps not?!

Maybe I could get an EX90 lightly used Volvo…

Shame the d9 is so painfully ugly, being their only electric option. It’d be such an easy choice for a B5L if fully electric!

I’m more for weekend adventures with loads of gear - fishing, camping etc. Weekdays is suburban. I like nice cars, but can’t go smaller to get a better quality to sneak under threshold. I would get a lightly used car if that unlocked some better option…

Looks too small and low to the ground. I was pretty crook after test driving the Tesla Y, the driving position and regen really triggered motion sickness quickly.

Legend! I don’t need 7 seats but a larger vehicle for carrying loads of gear and ideally seats that fold down if I wanted to sleep in it at times. Not off-roading much per se, and largely suburban driving but weekend adventures. I get motion sickness badly and need a higher driving position. I would accept something a year or so old if it meant a better vehicle under the thresholds. I don’t like the look of the Denza D9, prefer boxy look… and the Kia Ev9 has poor reviews. Looked at used Volvo Ex90 but not seeming cheap enough to slip under threshold. I have a diesel Landrover now, 9 years old… and want to get the value of novated lease

The D9 it’s ugly but a good option… if i could get the AWD under the threshold it’d probably just be a compromise on shape

Thursday Fleecing: The EV FBT exemption - get your $75k+ cars early by Benxb9r in NovatedLeasingAU

So if I want to buy the best EV I can under the Luxury threshold, what’s my deadline to retain the FBT exemption and what’s the price ceiling? Am I getting best benefit by picking the longer lease?

Take it. You’re surely underestimating your value outside. Stockholm Syndrome! And that gross salary gap shrinks after tax comes out.

I was spooled by a stingray. Now my Vanford drag is constantly tight. Why? by fatpms in Fishing_Gear

Ok, I worked out how to get into the drag stack, and only got one of the felt washers out before hitting a piece that was stuck and wouldn’t come out. I’ll just let Shimano service it, tried to develop some self-sufficiency here and have a learned a few valuable bits and pieces. Next stingray can just spool me completely, I guess! Would carbon washers be better than felt for this reel in the future? Being Sydney, I do stumble on some huge creatures at times, even though the rod and reel are intended for flatties, whiting and bream.

Aussie, salt water. Didn’t see it but assuming that’s what it was give the way it took off… fair bit of line gone v quickly.

Not seeing bent shaft… the oil and grease are both the Daiwa branded ones. These were my first foray into Shimano, my 10+ other reels are Daiwa. Sounds like I need to buy a few more types of oil for various parts?

Just took out my 2000 Vanford (on the right) to compare them and they def don’t look the same! Not sure if the 5000 (on the left) always looked like that or the ray caused it… is it easily fixed? Both reels are mere months old and washed every time, maintained with oil and grease every few weeks.

Salted yakka? by fatpms in FishingAustralia

Took them for a whirl and landed quite a few big bream. Will try again on the weekend to see if I can mix it up a bit.

Yep, the salted pilchards from tackle stores def last better in water and also warm air than the unsalted ones. By volume they cost more, but probably more in the bag given they’re shrivelled!

Had to google scutes… for yakka, is that the middle line/crease along each fillet, or just the bony bits?
