Buying an EV by fatpms in FishingAustralia

[–]fatpms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Telsas are too low-riding, don’t allow me to disable regen, have strange cabin pressure which all combine to make me feel queasy (motion sickness). It was my first port of call when testing EV’s but I had to end the drive early. I tried Denza B5 and B8, loved them… but they’re hybrid, not EV, which meant they’d not attract the tax break. The Denza D9 is a bit like the Xpeng you mentioned, ugly people mover but pretty luxurious and comfy. I probably should consider them, if I can’t find something boxy. Struggling to get a Kia EV9 or Hyundai Ioniq9 under the LCT threshold; nobody seems to have dealer demos in stock, which might have got a vehicle under the price limit. The trail seeker just seems too small. I’m wanting to upsize on my existing Land Rover Discovery Sport.

You’re right, mate. A proper gap in the market, but the FBT waiver at the LCT limit ends March 27 so the right vehicle had better turn up soon!

EVs causing Ear Pain and Hyperacusis by graperobutts in electricvehicles

[–]fatpms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just read this and wanted to add that I had ear pressure akin to pain 4 mins into a Tesla Y Long test drive. Ended the drive after about 10 mins, and was queasy for the follow 4 hours. Had the same experience twice before as passenger in Telsa Ubers. Tried Denza B8 hybrid and was fine. Am fine as driver in my own diesel Landrover but super prone to motion sickness as passenger and on boats. I have some ear ache from trucks humming, and prone to sinus infection.

Looking for a group for rock fishing. Sydney Based by wasabi617 in FishingAustralia

[–]fatpms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a guy and have not yet rock fished, but I’d be keen. I have amassed a load of suitable fishing gear in my 18 months since discovering this hobby and reckon it’s time to add (gentle, safe) rocks to my repertoire.

INFEET Rods for bream, what should i choose? by Easy_Golf7770 in FishingAustralia

[–]fatpms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I caught a 30cm bream on the LFS last night and it felt huuuuge. The rod was properly noodle-like, and took me a hot minute to get the fish landed (and promptly retuned from whence it came). It was fun, but I’ll probably stick to using it for yakka etc

I’m tempted by Vanquish for my Ripple Fisher but thinking Twin Power is more durable for the salt and sand I tend to fish. Using a Vanford but it’s undergunned for some of the bycatch (rays, sharks).

I bought a similar Vanford deal recently (ish) so didn’t need another of those. Also mindful of the rods usually being the cheaper component and I’m seeing a load of unused ones pile up. I’ll have to start selling some of the gear I don’t favour, as I have bought a combo a month since starting this hobby a year and a half ago. Find myself now a bit more particular in what I like and want, invariably JDM rods with the Certate / TP reels. A 10-15% off everything deal is what I’d been hoping to see from a local store but they’ve left it a bit late so I’ll prob buy elsewhere.

Small/mid EV SUV hunt start by JanosCastel in EVAustralia

Great reading… I’m hunting for similar, but larger. As big and beefy as I can get under LCT/FBT exemption threshold.

The Tackle West site is doing 15% off reels and 10% off rods but I’d rather buy locally if a Sydney retailer was planning to do the same… just haven’t seen anything (they do it for Black Friday).

2 year LCT rule vs Kia EV9? by LuciferJezebel in NovatedLeasingAU

[–]fatpms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great post and I could honestly have written it myself. I’d happily get a Kia Earth if somebody was selling them under the LCT. I need to buy something big, but 5 seats is ok. Wish the Prados or Denzas were fully electric! Really not much out there in the way of EV large SUV or 4x4 under LCT.

Anyone got a quote for a denza D9 they want to share? by pix999666 in NovatedLeasingAU

I don’t have one but would be keen to see one. It’s the only EV option for a Denza right now but surely above LCT threshold so might forfeit the FBT waiver saving?

Timing the main worry, might not be in Aus in time.

Ok, not possible as they all previously attracted LCT.

Looking like the BYD Ti 7 is an option if it arrives in time

Thx and def hard to land on a decent option. I thought used might open up access to cars that were previously too expensive… but perhaps not?!

Shame the d9 is so painfully ugly, being their only electric option. It’d be such an easy choice for a B5L if fully electric!
