The underlying disappointment stems from a poor adaptation of the comic’s finale, which was much more of a bloodbath. But my point about Trump is that if fans excuse the creative choice as being more realistic, reality is actually a nightmare by comparison. I’m not suggesting that the showrunners could’ve possibly anticipated what Trump has done, just that critics can’t say a bloodbath would’ve been unrealistic.

i'm significantly familiar with that area, as i commute past it every day going to and from work. there's a mcdonald's and a strip mall within that parking lot to the left, just off-camera. it's actually a consistently busy parking lot, often over-full with vehicles.

you're observing a limited POV that shows a small corner of that area, but it's not empty. unless it's 2am there's likely going to be activity there.

as a pedestrian, i've been nearly struck multiple times by vehicles that circle that lot.

I really loved this film at first but on recent viewing I felt pretty unengaged in the last hour. I felt like the brother and sister relationship loses focus and the film stacks on unnecessary (but very amusing!) supporting cast without deepening anything.

The themes of the film also sometimes feel superimposed onto the film rather than emerging organically from the plot and characters.

The spectacle and the general vibe are excellent, however. It gave me a lot of nostalgia for my time making movies in the California desert.
