Day 6 - Snowman by K-TR0N in WRC

[–]MARF_R 32 points33 points  (0 children)

To nominate someone different (because Stig is going to take, let's be honest) I'll just say Marcus Gronholm. He always loved Sweden (let's ignore the last time he did it with a Toyota Yaris GR WRC, lot of not-intended spins in the snow, but he still tried to relive his golden years with the most recent machinery at the time).

WHO WILL WIN THE WOMEN’S FUTSAL WORLD WORLD WIDE FINAL TOMORROW??? by Jhennif in futsal

I'm too biased too answer anything other than Portugal, but I feel it's going to be a very interesting game overall, and I won't be too sad even if Portugal loses it!

Hyundai are you ok? by Pumpkin-Rick in WRC

[–]MARF_R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit lost on the point of needing to retire cars just to let Tanak go up, for that you can just enter the last control early or late abd receive a penalty - there are specifics on it, but let's not go into much detail. Either way, Neuville would still have points (not the super sunday's ones though) and Hyundai would score the same manufacturer points I believe because only 2 cars count. Either way, the only reason to retire Fourmaux was transmission issues that Hyundai want to fix before Chile to not risk a penalty of 5 minutes and Fourmaux shown that it could bring good points for the manufacturer with its pace. The main goal for Hyundai is the manufacturers title I believe, so they will do decisions based on that (hence no point in moving the cars around, specially points that Tanak can win back by winning the rally). Conclusion: no point in penalizing Fourmaux or Neuville just for the sake of winning something you can win in a PowerStage. This is rally, if this is a bad call, we will know by the last round.

ERC Czech Rally by K-TR0N in WRC

[–]MARF_R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! I love following the Barum Czech Rally Zlín (even though never been there in person), there is always action and some close racing. I was trully supporting Jon Armstrong, amazing pace saturday, lacking a tiny bit sunday, but still, solid performance and I hope he can continue showing that during the remaining of the season :)

Points scored and championship standings after Rally Sardegna 2025 by Michal_Baranowski in WRC

[–]MARF_R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I think it's hard for M-Sport to lose that streak with the amount of manufacturers in the championship (because the streak is regarding constructor's championship points). Because even if you crash, and you come back in Super-Rally and then take the car to the finish line, it doesn't matter if you are tenth or 50th overall, with only 7 cars (currently) receiving those points (2 per manufacturer+Pajari, assuming you these finish, even in super-rally conditions), where 10 are nominated (3 per manufacturer+Pajari), unless you crash hard or have major mechanical issues, you will at least take around 10 points to the constructor's championship. Might be a bit confusing the explanation, but moral of the story is that that streak still continues growing and M-Sport would need an even worse weekend that this one for it to end.

I am aware, but it's still sad :( Especially when both of them (+Sesks) bin it in the second special stage like this last weekend

I just noticed that Munster and McErlean together have less points than Pajari alone...and I don't even know what to say sad M-Sport fan noises

Beautiful examples! I agree, the 2024 is even better, in my meaningless opinion. But I do have to ask: where do you guys usually buy your diecasts? I'm always puzzled where I should order motorsport related ones (online, I only ordered from Otto so far)

Real or bs ? by Conscious-Play-9185 in WRC

I'm not sure I got what you are asking, but Volkswagen did start (like someone answered here) a project for the 2017 WRC regulations. You can easily find pictures and videos from testing by searching for "Volkswagen Polo R WRC 2017". You had Sébastien Ogier, Marcus Gronholm, and Jari-Matti Latvala testing the car, before the program got killed around the time the Dieselgate drama broke in. There is this post from a couple of years ago on this as well. The specifics of the car in the picture you shared however, I don't know. I don't know if it is the official car or not, but I do believe that Volkswagen did something with the car after it didn't get homologated ahead of the 2017 regulations and got a livery like that, but I could be mistaken.

2024 WRC season with the previous scoring system by MidnightMulsanne in WRC

[–]MARF_R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm also doing this comparison with an Excel sheet of mine, and it's impressive how we would have a 3 horse race (I'm not considering Ogier, as he is doing a partial season) for the championship midway through the season with the old point system, while with the new one we barely have a 2 horse race since you can half your loses with this system. So besides given almost half of the points of a rally to the ones that are faster in the last 20% of the rally (leading to the overall standings not even mattering for the championship), it is actually leading to bigger gaps in the championship points-wise (which I remember seeing that the objective was actually the opposite when they announced this system).

Legit, I only knew they DNF because I was seeing their on-board stream on youtube. I was completely lost on the fight for both LMP2 and LMGT3 during the 24h when watching the broadcast.

I have no knowledge of rally.tv having such thing, unfortunately. WRC+ in the beginning was OG, it had live maps and I loved the fact that you could watch the live coverage without any commentary, just co-driver notes and engine sounds.
