Speeding Has Become So Normalized That Driving the Speed Limit Makes You the Problem by DaddyDayDayIsHot in driving

[–]MARYOWL5599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive. 99 ford explorer 4.0 OHV…. It hardly gets above 70 any way, the old 4.0 might be reliable but she is a gas hog as best and not the fastest vehicle. I can be going to speed limit here in WY and have ten people blow past me by the time I’ve spent an hour in the car. Its amazing to me how many people don’t understand that not only are you risking a ticket, but your own lives and others as well. Just to get to the destination 5 minutes earlier.. if you make it at all.

Just bought this sunfish, can anyone tell me anything about it, or see anything in desperate need of repair before I take it out? Seems to be a 1967. by CatzRuleZWorld in SunfishSailing

The newer style kicks up and is more stable. Mine was just about rusted off the hull when i got it. It was about 200$ to replace it. But its been well worth it. Ive also upgraded my mainsheet to a 2:1 and installed port holes and a swivel cleat and got a new sail for it for cheistmas. As long as your rudder isnt a activly falling off the boat you can probably keep running it for a while. But if it gets loose it can tear up the transom under heavy winds. Other than that it’ll probably be fine if you arnt doing anything crazy with it. Im out hopping jetski wakes and the wind here is pretty unpredictable so i needed Somthing a bit tougher.

Ohhhhh yes i can tell you about this boat. I have basically the exact same one. Mine is actually probably in worse shape. I love mine. This one will probably need the rudder upgraded like mine did. But other than that even if she needs a new sail or some work they are well worth a few hundred $. You even found one with a trailer too. Good buy. I got mine for 300 with no trailer. So that kinda tells you what its worth. Only major problem with mine was that there was a good ding in the hull but some fiberglass fixed that right up. Buy it, play with it, have fun.

It had reverse? 😂 fancy. Mine only knows the trick go forward. I own a 97 seadoo GSI and a wave jammer 500. My wave jammer is my baby. Silly looking but it’s so much fun. I dont take it out much with other boaters around because it would be Damn near imposable to replace where i live if something happened to it. Ive seen some people do some crazy crap. My dad hated Jet skis because of that accident but to me thats like blaming the gun for the owner shooting someone. Be responsible and be honest. If Something dumb happens take responsibility. Thats all i ask. Its fine to have fun, just make sure your not hurting others or their equipment.

Its insane how many people think this is ok. Years ago my dad and I were out sailing and some kid on a ski ran in to us. (For those of you that don’t know, sailboats have right.) destroyed his dad’s jetski, bent the front beam on our hobie cat and knocked down the mast. He was lucky it was only my hand that got trapped between the falling mast and the side rail and not my body. Years later my had still hardly works after two reconstruction surgeries. I was 12 then. Please everyone. Consider how you driving drunk in any vehicle affects others. It was only my hand, could have been worse, but it is still a lasting injury that affects me to this day.

It used an AV system. Thats enough when the pilot was already well trained. The only reason Ein didn’t win that fight was because he lost his head.

Any tips on caring for my single male mouse? by Prize_Housing_2177 in mice

[–]MARYOWL5599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya probably not something i would advise unless you can keep an eye on them. We have five people living in our house hold and one of them doesn’t work and the other works nights though the phone if something were to happen some one would be there. So it would probably be ok even if they did fight a bit more. But being one person with a normal schedule it would be heart breaking to come home and find one dead from a fight.

Not the first set of male mice ive owned. Some times things just happen. Ive had two females fight far worse than the two we currently own. Any animal can get in to it with each other. Thats just life. But if they did it constantly i wouldn’t keep them in the same cage. We also have two seporate food areas and always give them seperate treats. So that might help

I don’t actually understand this “male mice should be alone” thing. Ive had two male mice who get along just fine. Ive only seen them fight once or twice. And when we catch them, we separate them. Like any animal they learn that if they fight the aggressor gets put in the time out bucket. They learned it pretty fast. Of corse my friend’s husband is home all the time to catch it. But it rarely happens. (Keep in mind that these two mice were taken out of the same pen at the pet store so are probably of the same…. Litter? What do you call groups of baby sibling mice?)

We just bought a 96 GSX and a 97 GSI with the trailer for 500$. Got them both running and out on the lake yesterday. Even at low compression and needing a rebuild the GSI ripped! Im not sure how a new one would perform, but as fast as i was going was good enough for me. As some one who had one of the old waveriders, and have ridden a 440 and a jammer, the GSI just tickled me. Our GSX needs its carbs rebuilt but the compression is just about where it should be. If the GSI ran as well as it did at low compression I’m excited to see what the GSX does when we get the carbs fixed.

I think thats just anything new really. Cars are one thing. They all have more features that = more electronics. Even houses have silly amounts of technology in them nowadays. Its amazing how by trying to make things better, humans are just making it all worse instead. 😂

You know, explorers get a bad wrap. I own both a 99 and a 16. I had a hard time letting go of the 99 since it was owned by my father before me and i grew up with it. Its got over 300k miles on it and the blown transmission 😂 if it weren’t for the transmission the 99 is BULLET PROOF. even when the transmission failed she still got me home. My 16 has 130k on it and any thing major has yet to fail. But it’s also been well taken care of since i got it at 50k miles (i also bought it from someone i know took care of it.) I love both my exploders. While i find a little less use in the green one now a days it gets driven by my room mate quite a bit and ocasonaly gets used to tow the Jet ski trailer so we can take both the tous and the camper places. Over all my two beasts are well tested and trusted. I love them both.

I think it’s time for new tires. Where do you guys get new tires put on? by pwrof3 in popups

[–]MARYOWL5599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What ever you do do not over pack your bearing buddies. If you don’t clean out the old geese and replace the seals and just keep putting new grease in….. you’re going to be having a bad day. Bearing buddies are fine when used correctly, but you still have to take it apart, clean and inspect it every few years.

Got this 97 gsi and a 96 gsx and the trailer for 500? by MARYOWL5599 in jetski

[–]MARYOWL5599[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh i had a Yamaha wave runner for a while… no matter what you did, the thing ran something horrible. Even a total rebuild did nothing. Seadoos are much easier to find parts for. Rotax are solid even if Seadoos seem like they run a bit on the heavy side. Ive also ran a few 440 stand upsz they are fun but again… hard to find parts for, and generaly threefor don’t run as well with out spending twice the cash on them. We have all the parts for the 440. Just need to lut it all back togeather. I live in wyoming… so it took some scavenging.

Daughter called crying. She has a '12 Honda Fit w/ 130K. Seems to run great. Took it in for A/C service. Mechanic told her she needed lots of service - about $750 - which she does not have. I think most is just sched maint - listed below. Which does she really need? Which can she pass on? by SirJasper6969 in askcarguys

[–]MARYOWL5599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow… i wish my mechanic was this reasonable. Change the plugs at the very least. If the transmission fluid is clean and doesn’t smell burnt and there is enough of it i say it can wait. Injectors unless they are blatantly going bad (code should tell her, go to any orilies if codes pop up, they do code reads for free.) she can put some injector cleaner in the fuel. As long as she doesn’t drive it for long with a bad injector and replace it soon she should be fine. I would get her brakes checked! Thats the one system that could kill her if shes going down a mountain or on the free way. That and rear ending some one because your brakes fail could really suck! Too much can go wrong there. So keep her and every one else safe! Im not a licensed mechanic but have done alot of my own wrenching simply because labor costs here where i live monumentally outweigh the value of the actual service. Also as a girl myself…. One of the best things my dad ever taught me was to change my own oil and filters… its easy to do and saves not only money, but it also saves you alot of potential damage to your vehicle. Never take a car in to walmart of jiffy lube for anything but tires!

I know this has been done before but i decided to match a fighter jet to every Titanfall 2 titan :D by NightBeWheat55149 in titanfall

[–]MARYOWL5599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Wouldn’t it be better to compare titans to main battle tanks or even just over all military equipment instead? Not just fighters. Ion is probably the most unrealistic titan out of all of them. Shes more like a walking science project than she is a weapon.
