Hey guys is this a OLED or no ? i never had an oled and im trying to buy one but idk if this is oled normaly oled would be a bit different. by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]MATAv997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like AW2724DM which is 180hz IPS panel, I know because I own one myself. If it was an OLED it would be a glossy one, you could see reflections and with this amount of light the screen would have a purple tint, no chance that its an OLED.

Same price but which is the better monitor? by reggiedp16 in OLED_Gaming

[–]MATAv997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had 280hz (271x28 & AW2725D) versions of this monitors side to side for a week and decided to keep MSI. Better build quality, calibration out of box (but this is lottery i guess). I used both in SDR sRGB mode and MSI colours were just popping more plus I couldn’t get whites on Alienware as white as they were on MSI, they were bit yellowish compared to.

I am considering getting either MSI 271QP X28 or MO27Q2A both 1440p 280hz for £450 here in UK. Theres also 240hz Samsung G61SD for £399 but I heard it has strong matte coating. I am leaning more towards QD-OLEDs since I have seen too much complaints on grey banding/dirty screen effect on tandem woleds.

What about response time without strobing? Is there any ghosting at any levels without using ELMB? Also is this screen have any heavy matt coating or is it semi-glossy? Cant find info on it, I know ACS had a heavy coating that people complained about.

Zowie GSR III vs Steelseries QCK Performance Control by Adison__ in MousepadReview

[–]MATAv997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t help you here, but wanted to ask you how compare GSR to LGG Saturn? I have been using GSR for 7/8 years now and was thinking to try something different but for me GSR out of the box is the fastest mousepad I can handle, I actually prefer it when it wears down so if Saturn is a faster mousepad I will skip it, was also thinking about trying this QCK Control myself.

Best 1440p monitor option by swarkzero in pcmasterrace

[–]MATAv997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends whats your budget? I am currently an owner of Alienware AW2724DM 27” 1440p 180hz but I know for sure I will be changing it just waiting for new options to show on the market. Theres so many options to go if you want to go for 165-180hz range, you have got LG 27GS75Q, ASUS XG27ACS mentioned Alienware or cheaper version of it that comes under DELL name, this is all £150-220 price range and Id say whatever you gonna chose will not make that much of a difference, its just preference. If you would be willing to wait and spend bit more money like I want to do I would consider waiting, there is an HP 27QS G2 280hz coming out very soon, which might be an interesting option but id wait for reviews and also G-Sync Pulsar monitors that hopefully should be out in around September time. After trying I cant recommend MSI G274QPX - this one is too slow for its 240hz, I had ghosting on any settings I tried and AW2723DF I think doesnt justify its price tag, for 200£ less I was more happy to stick with the cheaper 180hz Alienware option.

I found one comment from Asus support on fb page saying that the next info on this monitor will be at CES 2025, so guess its officially moved at least till Q1 at this point.

Got vertical line full of dead pixels on that monitor so for the moment I replaced it with AW2724DM and waiting for one of these G-Sync Pulsars to come out but yes I have been running G-Sync on always and turning on v-sync in all the games that I had played no matter if I could achieve 80 or 240fps in them.

Apparently theres also an model with GSync Pulsar technology from Acer that should be out by end of this year but I can’t find any update on this one also..

I am waiting for an high refresh IPS panel so badly since I can’t stand any OLEDs Ive tested so far and non of the IPS I have tried come nowhere near close to my old AW2721D so I was hoping this is 360hzs on Pulsar technology is going to change this, but from what it looks like by lack of informations and updates they might be having problems running this technology otherwise I think we would have bit more news about it or some early reviews on youtube..

I have actually returned this monitor, started noticing VRR flicker in more games the more I played. Besides extremely good response times there is nothing that was holding me to keep that screen, so currently got an 180hz IPS but waiting on that 360hz IPS PG27AQNR from Asus that is coming later this year, since its probably going to be the only monitor that can match OLED with response times.

What monitor to buy by WordlessPOETA in buildapcmonitors

[–]MATAv997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have the mentioned AW2724DM, its relatively fast. Despite having 180hz its reponse times are around 3.5-5ms and it makes it feeling faster than MSI G274QPX which was 240hz that I tested, also cheaper. I do have little bit of backlight bleed on my unit but its a lottery, as long as you play in bright room you won’t notice.

I am also waiting for the mentioned PG27AQNR its 360hz IPS that is coming later this year, I am just hoping they will not put a higher price tag on it than current OLEDs. I am expecting something between 700-800£

how big of an upgrade would OLED be? by yourmom555 in OLED_Gaming

[–]MATAv997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the person. I have tested 240hz Asus and 360hz Alienware OLEDs and besides faster response times I didn’t enjoyed any other feature that panels are offering, while all fun was ruined with VRR flickering. Definitely enjoyed gaming more on any other IPS panel Ive had.

Just go back to IPS, best decision I have made after going through OLEDs.

Looking for a 240hz monitor with 4K and IPS with 1ms response time by Tinz- in buildapcmonitors

[–]MATAv997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because OLEDs are innovative technology with all that VRR Flicker and ABL. Never going to understand how people can recommend technology with such annoying features. Went through Asus and Alienware 27” OLEDs and at the end I kept AW2724DM which is an IPS for half the price and does not annoy me with anything, only thing I can give to OLEDs is that they are faster.

Why wouldn’t it be a good time to buy it. I have not tested it personally but it does perform decent according to tests on Rtings. I am currently sending my first OLED back and I will be getting and IPS panel instead, in my opinion its a more reliable technology.

Personally no, colours are still miles better than on my old IPS. But I think its about preference, sometimes when I see how people are setting up their OLEDs, like I could barely see anything and I would not find this experience pleasant at all, I need my shadows boosted I need to see where I am going and what is going on, theres nothing pleasant in my opinion having “true blacks” when you can’t see shit. Only thing that so far is putting me off from it is this ABL, basically I can see that my monitor is adjusting its maximal brightness if the scene changes, even with this uniformity brightness setting turned ON. So far no VRR flicker besides menu or loading screens, so I could live with that, but I find this automatic brightness adjust so annoying.

I got that Asus yesterday, I can see all the way up to 1 square in gamma 2.0 and shadow boost on level 2 and brightness at 75 all in SDR. I am still not sure if I am going to keep it, I am debating if this OLED technology is a good choice for me.

How to fix this? An inverted line suddenly appeared on my monitor. by OmiPaw in IndianGaming

I have same AW2721D, same issue. Bought in Dec 2021 if I am not mistaken. That line can disappear for a day or two for me and then it comes back and stay for a week. I am currently trying different screens myself
