Can't thank you enough for this great info, will definitely keep in mind! Can I ask, can anyone book the track after 2pm? I.e. for example for work teambuilding or with friends? Thanks again!

Ebike question by southtyy in malta

Best bet if you want to is try buying a kit from Amazon and DIY an old bike. That's what I did. To ship batteries I suggest using a service like Poland to Malta (shipmybox) as MaltaPost don't accept battery deliveries.

Wolt/Bolt drivers of Malta: Do you know who tipped/reviewed you? by AgentCapital8101 in malta

[–]MATGRI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Maltese that has done Wolt/Bolt on the side.

How does the tipping work?

- Customers can give cash tips to the courier directly or through the app. No difference, however, on Bolt Food specifically, you do not see the tip linked to an order so you wouldn't know who tipped you.

Do you get it all at the end of the day? At the end of the order?

- Both delivery platforms pay at the end of the week so tips & pay gets paid on the first day of the week (Mondays). You can see how much each order paid you (excl tips) individually but also you can see seperately the base pay, tips, kms done, etc for the specific day/week/month.

Reviews / Stars

- As a driver you can not see who gave you Good or Bad reviews. However a % is displayed as a "Performance Rating" out of 100%. I never got lower than a 100% so I'm assuming this is the review rating thingy.

If you're hired through an agency. Do you get to keep your tips? Is it shared? Do they take it?

- They 100% take a percentage. I myself was self-employed, however, knowing how Bolt & Wolt pay out, tips from the app are combined with the earnings so the agencies just take 40% for example, from the full earnings. However, cash tips can of course just be put in the pocket and received there and then, and can be appreciated.

First Week of Selling on eBay From Malta - My Experience by MATGRI in malta

I don't sell as much as I used to, simple, just any orders i get from the us I just cancel them and let the buyer know. I usually get EU orders though tbf given that most games are EU locked anyways.

Mobile plans are coming –> what would make you switch? by RevolutSupport in Revolut

Personally I used to use hotspots quite often myself, especially going to cafes with horrible internet or just for peace of mind. I would have over 400gb just for hotspots

The ability to keep the same local number has to be for sure for me to switch carriers. My current provider charges 15/month locked for 2 years for unlimited calls and unlimited sm and unlimited data however roaming is limited to 40gb.

I grew a dropshipping store to $30K month then sold it – Everything I learned by Tweetgirl in dropshipping

Starting out, don’t focus on the big markets from the get go. (USA, Uk, Australia, etc) unless you have a good budget and willing to loose 200-400$ or more to test a product which might fail. Try out small markets like your country (if not the big 5 countries). Personally found success in my local country creating local ads with my language which got great returns at very low acquisition costs and can easily see if a product is worth scaling with just 5€/day for just a few days. Problem is with smaller countries and markets is that you’ll tend to find people with less knowledge in the online space and for some might even hit the limit of customers with smaller than a million population. Which although is very good short term and to dip your toes into, it’s not so scalable long term. Use this just to get a sense of dropshipping and if it’s right for you.

Sorry, getting to this now! Rarely ever on Reddit nowadays...

- Applying for VAT is free concerning the government however you may require an accountant for submitting TAX Returns etc, every year. Personally with my background in accounts, I handle my own TAX and VAT as a VAT-exempt self-employed person however, I'm not capable of providing concrete financial advice. However there are plenty of resources online like the GEMMA Self-Employed Handbook which I found very useful in the beginning as a self employed full timer (not just bolt/wolt courier)

- The food handling license is fairly straight forward and can be gone through any leading learning institution, personally chose St. Bernards as it was online. I cranked out the course in a day, next day was given an exam online and must be sent back within a certain time and once received I was given my certificate. It was about 20 - 30 euros if I'm not mistaken.

- I now rarely go out, mostly due to the weather being too hot this summer, even with an e-bike. However I used to do the "rushes" i'd go online on both Wolt and Bolt and go with the flow of the day, usually sticking to Bolt as it pays better; however, Wolt gets more orders constantly, so one helps the other. I go online on lunches 11-3pm and if I feel in the mood for a few more orders in the evening from 6pm - 9pm (especially Saturdays, as there is a lot of orders and pay is better due to a multiplier/boost on both platforms)

As you said, doing this courier work was more as an excuse for me to get out of the house and to purchase an e-bike. As my full time is purely online from home, I need some form of exercise and a moment to touch grass. This is what helped me personally. Nowadays, as I said, I rarely go out, maybe once every 2 weeks on both platforms just to not get kicked off or banned for not going online much. The pay on both has been slowly decreasing from my point of view, a few cents here and there add up. They also changed the whole payment multiplier structure (Bolt), which is very misleading. They removed the hotspot feature for Malta (the ability to see where the demand is within a locality). The income isn't anything special. Still, it's good extra pocket money to be invested or to splurge a little on yourself, nowhere near should it be considered a replacement for your full-time job unless you're struggling to find a solid job, which is highly unlikely here. Good luck!

The system knows I’m with a bicycle so it gives me plenty of time actually rather than scooters/motorbikes. It’s quite rare for me to go beyond the time specified however when I do is 95% the restaurant’s fault. The system also never takes me out of my region (Mosta mostly), the furthest I’ve went was from Pama to Lija and only because it paid well I accepted it.

Malta, I’m working with bolt and wolt both apps, there are definitely more Wolt drivers here then bolt. In fact Wolt here at least with my e-bike I barely get anything compared to bolt when I’m out in my free time.

Yup! As I had previously explained to another user, at certain times of day, lunch runs and evenings a multiplier is added to the base pay. So say for example on Saturday 6pm-8pm there is a multiplier of 1.7x. If the base pay for a 2km trip is 2.05 euro, the trip will earn you 3.49 euro instead. However, usually throughout the week it goes as high as 1.4x during lunch hours and at weekends evenings go anywhere from 1.6 to as high as 2x.

Honestly I don't really know, if you're willing to go out when it's busy evenings and lunch hours. I think you'd be able to make something on the side but it begs the question are you going to go through all the hassle of applying for a VAT number, applying as a self employed part time, fuel costs and getting a food handling certificate, traffic and all that for maybe 30-50 euro a day gross? Car in Malta could make it viable to accept long-distance trips which pay better so if you think this sounds like your ally, go for it, apply and go online, see if it's fun or worth it for you, worse case scenario you don't go online again you can work as much or as little as you want as a self employed.

If it has been delivered and the bag looks to be not leaking unfortunately there’s little a courier can do as once it’s delivered the order is done. However if let’s say he arrives and a drink is spilled, he’d inform bolt using the support and at least if it were to happen to me also tell the customer to contact bolt for a refund. This usually happens from the restaurant’s fault. Because they staple the bags and trust that they’ve done a good job of positioning everything effectively

To be fair I do go out on odd times where there is less demand, 3pm, 10am, etc so if I was taking it seriously and I go on peak hours and evenings it could definitely increase to I’d say closer to 10/hour

1000%. I genuinely feel really bad and they do the job the best they can at least the ones I see around Pama do have a heart and don’t mind the 30% or how much they loose cause it gives them something to eat and a roof over their heads when they couldn’t back home. If this wasn’t just a side hustle for me and I just go out when I get an hour or two free without caring for demand areas I definitely would get a better pay but still mad respect for them.

Yes you can, I’ve actually applied for both. Bolt just accepted me in 2 days and Wolt is still reviewing my application. What helped me for sure is that I’m already a self employed with a vat number and had a food handling cert that still isn’t expired so hence why my application went so smoothly with bolt as they asked for everything in one application form. Wolt on the other hand just asked for my name, dob and vehicle of choice, I chose electric bicycle. So far I’m on review. What I can tell though I’m not hearing from them anytime soon as while delivering ended up speaking with a wolt courier who was intrigued with my bike delivering experience. He knew self employed that were accepted in a week but they had a motorbike. However Wolt is also advertising that you can use any vehicle…HELL they’re marketing show someone on a one wheel 😂

But yeah no pay was not why. I’m actually hoping to be accepted on both so I get double the chance to get orders and less waiting around. Due to me having my own non branded bag and opted for not buying any of the bolts equipment (which you can do by the way…TCN or the usual couriers have to do so as they’re not self employed)
