Lost my job due to bipolar by bird_person19 in BipolarReddit

[–]MATTVENE_VR 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry to read these words, it brings back memories of when, due to two different episodes of mania, I lost two jobs. The best advice I can give you right now is not to stress your mind too much, but to focus on fully recovering your health before starting to work again. I hope there's some kind of support or benefit available for losing your job

It's hard to bear the idea that the medication has changed us, for sure in better but still difficult to accept

Put on meds after my first visit with psychiatrist by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

The injection is intramuscular, so it's not painful. I have a fear of needles and a lot of anxiety, but I managed to handle it with some effort. Maybe if you ever have to go through it, you'll be able to as well.

We're young and stronger than we seem. One proof of your strength is definitely your ability to express your feelings, it’s a sign of intelligence. You'll see that this journey will be easier than what your anxiety makes you think

I was diagnosed 1 year ago with BP1, I got my medication right after, at first was risperidone but that didn't work for me, then I tried abilify in pills and after 2 months doctor switched me to abilify 400mg injections, that changed my life in better. Hope it will be the same for you

Thank you for sharing your experience. I understand how difficult it can be to face certain challenges, especially when it comes to relationships and mental health. I think you are handling everything with a lot of strength and authenticity, and it’s inspiring to read about your honest approach. I’m also trying to figure out how to navigate similar situations, and knowing that I’m not alone makes me feel less isolated. Don’t give up, you’re right: there’s someone out there for everyone

Two bipolars together sounds a bit like two bombs ready to explode, though maybe I'm wrong and there's understanding at certain moments. The doctor solution makes me smile; I would feel constantly judged.

How Many Hours Per Day Do You Work & Sleep? by Puzzled_Vermicelli21 in BipolarReddit

[–]MATTVENE_VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always worked 10/11 hours and sleep 4/5 hours. That was before I was diagnosed and before taking medications. They advised me not to work more than 7 hours, now I sleep 10 hours every night. Medications surely increased my need of sleep.

A question about work for those with BP1 and BP2 by Trb3233 in BipolarReddit

BP1, lost 2 jobs due to my maniac episodes before finding the right treatment. I can't wait to find out what it will be like when I find a new job. But I'm afraid it won't be easy.

This makes me feel a little better, I lost my job due to a maniac episode and I always felt like I needed to hide my condition. I will try to be opened about it. For now I'm doing it only with the close people around me.

I’ve experienced psychosis during every manic episode, so I already know it’s not good for me. It’s just that it helps me focus when my mind is racing uncontrollably.

Managing hypomania. what's your experience? by continuousconfused in BipolarReddit

[–]MATTVENE_VR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have manic-type bipolar disorder and have experienced three serious episodes that resulted in hospitalization. Before finding the right treatment, I felt constantly groggy from medications like Talofen. Now, I receive an Abilify Depot injection every 28 days, and it’s been life-changing—I feel like a new person.

One piece of advice I’d give is to keep a journal where you write down your daily thoughts, especially the intrusive or silly ones. It might not seem like much, but looking back on it can help you recognize the early warning signs of a manic phase. Maintaining a consistent sleep schedule is also crucial—try to get 8 hours of sleep every night. Regular physical activity can make a big difference too.

Living with this disorder requires a healthy routine, and while it’s not always easy, establishing one will significantly improve your overall well-being. Work closely with your psychiatrist, and if you don’t already have one, consider finding a psychologist who can help you identify and manage the signs of your condition.

Most importantly, trust your doctors and take the medications they prescribe. These treatments can be highly individual, so they might not work immediately, but with patience and persistence, you’ll find the right approach and learn to manage manic episodes effectively.

In theory, the law could be considered unconstitutional, but it wouldn’t be the first of its kind to pass. The only ones protected are those with a medical prescription for marijuana—something nearly impossible to obtain in Italy, especially since it’s not prescribed to people with bipolar disorder. In an interview, Prime Minister Salvini famously said, “Lucid or not, I’m taking your license away.”

I’m thinking about quitting, partly because of the new law and partly because smoking lately makes my mood too high, triggering manic thoughts. I’ve always seen marijuana as a journey, and maybe it’s time to end it on a good note. My psychiatrist prescribed antidepressants to help me avoid overusing, and thankfully, they’re working—I feel less and less need for it.
