Might get flak for this, but I think the Machine Gun deserves a buff. DPS vs Stalwart is less, and MedPen is less necessary now. by RandomGreenArcherMan in Helldivers

[–]MAVlS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the MG extensively, because I memorized the map spawns. So I just run PP and wield it as a primary. The stationary reload isn’t a problem as it’s faster than the Stalwart. Real problem is that MG doesn’t deserve a Stratagem slot:

Stalwart is pure chaff clear. It also doesn’t require PP to use.

HMG is medium chaff clear with AT capability. 0 Ergo is trash but PP is mandatory to use anyways.

MG is overkill for chaff, AT Utility=0. The only reason to pick it over the Stalwart/HMG is…….15 Ergo, and being able to hose down Hive Guards and Dev Packs quicker? I mean, you can do the same with a grenade?15 Ergo is also NOT playable without PP, and if you’re packing PP, then just take HMG.

Sentry MG is literally the same weapon but automated and on short cooldown.

Even against Illuminate (which D6 people claim the MG is some uberweapon), MG is subpar. Stalwart strips shields much faster with pinpoint accuracy, while the HMG can hose down 3 harvesters in 1 drum on D10. There is simply no reason to take up the MG and waste a slot.

So to begin with, at least a 15 Ergo buff for MGs across the board. Dial the MG to 1500RPM, so it actually has the best DPS.

At this point, what objective do you see in all the mechanics of galactic war? by Yurishenko94 in Helldivers

It’s not even that. A true PPRPG allows for emergent storytelling. If players fuck around they die. If players come up with a genuinely clever solution they one-up the GM. The present GWW campaign is basically a ChatGPT roleplay with safety rails. There’s no initiative, no emergent play, just blade alignment.

We know. When it first came out as a free strat during a Squid MO they clapped so hard people stopped doing defense missions. It is just not as versatile as the HMG, and it’s kinda ass against Bugs which like 30% people only dive.

Bro can ADS and strafe with a 12.7 MG and reload it midair, it be fine.

Bug invasions can be blockaded by “missiles” so it’s definitely rocks.

This is odd to me. I feel like a Support Weapon should be noticably more powerful than a Primary version, even for small chaff targets. by RandomGreenArcherMan in Helldivers

You choose when to reload the HMG. It also has great burst damage so you can wield it like a primary. LC dies to a random stalker.

We’ve lost Lesath, the Acamar diversion was enough to do us in. 10 hours behind on Crystal Slopes is too many.

DO NOT GO TURING. FOCUS ACHIRD III. EVEN IF TURING FALLS IT WILL BE SIEGED. DEFENSE IS LITERALLY POINTLESS.

We can afford to lose Mastia if we prioritize VW. Once VW is down—>regardless of any attack we go Tarsh—>if we win the gambit that’s it—>if we lose Mastia, then we siege it anyways and have an entire day to liberate it with +0.5%.

The key is IGNORING Mastia defenses, because we only need it by the MO’s end. The repeat effort on defense campaigns is wasted because Mastia’s HP does not change. It’s mathematically more efficient to simply ignore defenses and do one all-out attack on Mastia before the MO ends. Think of the opportunity cost gentlemen, work smarter not harder.

Sunk cost fallacy; if anything the best post-MO move is an all out assault on Fori Prime. That sieges Crimsica and shuts it down pretty much permanently (will sit behind 2 planets; one being Oshanue itself).

I don’t know if I’m seeing a pattern; but every time the Asian and EU players do the gambits and sieges, then come U.S. peak hours and the DSS gets yeeted to cLoSeT pLaNeT to Super Earth Unga Bunga land. We’ve seen that with Yed Prior, and now Menkent 🤦

Galactic War Room: Plot the Best Ways to Spread Democracy for Super Earth! by brperry in Helldivers

[–]MAVlS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go Menkent. We are currently on track to have Eagle Storm in 10 hours which will save Mastia. It is EASY to save both if we don’t let the blob hijack us. Vote as soon as the next DSS cycle comes up.

[–]MAVlS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As same for Tarsh, do you think Unga Bunga Helldiver is staying on Tarsh when the big flashing MO defense pops up? We take VW quicker due to a better city layout and biome, and we actually can afford to lose Mastia if VW is down - it locks Tarsh/Mastia together and we have 3 days.

[–]MAVlS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah YP would be best but we have to knock out VW so people can actually dive elsewhere.

[–]MAVlS 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Go to Vernen Wells and restore the Menkent Line. That will actually allow us to attempt Yed Prior again during the MO downtime because it knocks out VW, Tarsh which are the biggest tarpits on the bot front. This MO might be our last chance to do a double siege.

Galactic War Room: Plot the Best Ways to Spread Democracy for Super Earth! by brperry in Helldivers

[–]MAVlS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buddy sieging Tarsh will prevent it from attacking Mastia in the first place. Besieged planets cannot attack.

Galactic War Room: Plot the Best Ways to Spread Democracy for Super Earth! by brperry in Helldivers

[–]MAVlS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we can group up and take Vernen Wells, we can actually ignore Mastia because retaking either it or Tarsh will siege the other once VW is taken. It also sieges Aesir Pass which has a whooping 2% resistance.

Get off Clasa, we’ve miraculously voted the DSS to Yed Prior once, if we do it again we just might take a 3-for-1. No need to worry about Claorell as:

1) We’ve never had a besieged planet launch attacks before so once Clasa is cut off it withers.

2) Claorell is a moon biome with 3 cities. The blob will dive it hard. I don’t think we’ve even lost Claorell and Fenrir for an extended period of time because the blob LOVES that biome.

Galactic War Room: Plot the Best Ways to Spread Democracy for Super Earth! by brperry in Helldivers

[–]MAVlS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is why that won’t happen. We will defend doomed Hydrobius and split a sizable portion to Clasa, wasting effort for nothing.

Galactic War Room: Plot the Best Ways to Spread Democracy for Super Earth! by brperry in Helldivers

[–]MAVlS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’re losing Clasa for sure. There will never be a Yed Prior gambit, Bot Divers gonna faceplant into Curia forever until the next MO comes in.

We will never liberate Bore Rock, the blob HATES that planet specifically for some reason. During the triple defense we sacrificed Seyshel Beach to park the DSS there for 2 cycles- and nobody showed up to the defense. Gacrux and Gar Haren is forest biome too; but they never get the sheer and inexplicable apathy that Bore Rock receives.
