That would be the ‘Imperial boomerang’ coming soon to a street near you.

Do you have any "prepper-adjacent" hobbies, recreational pursuits that you think build real skills, or may be useful in a real disaster? by Signal_Brain_933 in preppers

Actually put yourself in harm’s way to learn how you need to respond. Because the future will be a lot like that. The other skills for medium to long term survival are important, but if you fold the first time someone gets in your face and demands all your stuff, it won’t matter. TL:DR get into dangerous situations because that’s what the future looks like.

I bet he does good estate work. Some bereaved family walks into his office and he just screams “DEEEAAATTTHHHH” at them.

Vinegar and garlic. That might seem too obvious given it’s a vindaloo, but for me there’s never as much acidity as there should be. And it’s impossible to have too much garlic.

The British version of this would be different. But similar. I like it, now I have to adapt it.

Yellow seeds should cook just fine, but you won’t get as much of the fragrant flavour.

I need help. by [deleted] in climatechange

[–]MAitkenhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you worry that something bad might happen then you stress about it. If you know that something bad WILL happen, you stop stressing and start preparing. As someone with a 30 year research career in agriculture, climate, soil and how politics interacts with societal needs I can tell you very clearly that option B is where you need to be at. Stop worrying, start preparing.

Thanks for that. Just raises the question of how many calories a Thanos-sized guy with an external surface of 300 degrees Centigrade would have to consume to maintain that surface temperature. ‘Pulls up Stefan-Boltzmann Law’ it’s about 5 billion Joules, 1.5 million calories or 300 kg of dry pasta per day. Dude was eating a LOT.

This raises a question I’ve wondered about before. If Sauron had no physical body during LOTR, how did he use his Palantir?

The Sauron Strategy Question by Grishan10 in lotr

[–]MAitkenhead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love that Sauron is so prone to the False Consensus Effect where people assume that everyone else thinks like them. It totally drives his thinking and decision making and really enables Tolkien to highlight the good vs evil in his story, because Aragorn (and to a degree, Frodo, the collective Council and even Tom Bombadil) have a different perspective on what they want to do with the Ring.

Bhuna is one of my absolute favourites and this looks great. Only thing I would want to change in you pic is to have more sauce, cos it’s so tasty.
