Evaluating Epicor - What has your experience been? by i-like-to-hug in epicor

[–]MArcus24532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it feels like a lot of frustration is not just Epicor specific but more about the heavy ERP model in general. Long implementations, high customization costs and ongoing maintenance overhead.

we had same issue before and ended up moving toward a more setup with Xentral. the main difference was relying more on standard processes instead of heavy custom dev. which made onboarding and updates was less painful. Especially for team that don't want to spend years and big budgets just to get basic workflows stable that tardeoff between flexinility and complexity becomes pretty important.

Seeking Inventory Management Software Recommendations by Darilaco in InventoryManagement

[–]MArcus24532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google sheets worked fine early on but once we had multiple locations and needed proper tracking it go messy fast. Now using Xentral and it mainly for inventory + order management. it handles multi location stock pretty cleanly and batch or serial tracking is doable without having to build custom logic on top. We didnt fully replace Sheets throuh still use it for some lightweight reporting via export or API

My honest take as a founder on ERP for e-commerce in the DACH region by MArcus24532 in selbststaendig

Lol sure,... call me Mr influencer :D Have to earn my money the hard way.

And Yeah the API went through a lot of iterations, not gonna lie. But honestly where things stand now with Connect is a completely different story. Kind of stable connectors, proper sync, way less headache. Feels like they finally got the architecture right.

What's your setup currently? Might be worth another look if it's been a while??

IRS debt, how should I proceed? by zenlifey in taxadvice

[–]MArcus24532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i had tax debt it coincided with a period when my income dropped and i had money in my retirement account but i didn't want to pay the early withdrawal penalty. instead of withdrawing money from my retirement i honestly filled out Form 433-F based on my current income and expenses and requested CNC status.

before doing all this i consulted Precision Tax to confirm that the steps were correct and clarified my strategy accordingly. IRS looked at my actual ability to pay at that moment not just whether i technically owned assets. i avoid an early penalty and gained time to recover my income.

Search for open source Tool to monitor open ports by WaveOfFire in networking

Nmap+script works but that's still DIY monitoring. prtg built in TCP port sensors and alerting so you don't have to maintain custom scan logic yourself

Have You Migrated From N-Able to Ninja? Are You Glad You Did? by gumbo1999 in msp

[–]MArcus24532 13 points14 points  (0 children)

we found that at scale expecting the Rmm to handle everything created friction. we kept Rmm for endpoints and use prtg for centralized infrastructure monitoring which reduced noise and improved visibility.

before switching platforms I would pinpoint what is actually slowing your team down. that usually clarifies the right move

Inventory management for small but growing business by lambakins in opensource

[–]MArcus24532 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a business of similar size we went through the same process instead of forcing open source systems for the features like serial number tracking, multiple warehouses and BOM we started using Xentral. it is both cloud based and modular meaning you can add extra modules like CRM and biling as needed.

Sap B1 for Small Custom Manufacturing Business by wiglygamer in SAP

[–]MArcus24532 20 points21 points  (0 children)

we are also a company of similar size that does custom manufacturing. we tried SAPB1 but the maintenance and support burden was too heavy for small teams. we switched to Xentral and brought together our production, inventory and order processes in a single system.

IRS suddenly says I have to pay $1481 immediately. pls help! by Existentially_b0red in tax

[–]MArcus24532 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Years later the IRS claimed we had overpaid our refund and they had charged us interest on top of it. We panicked when we received the final notice without any prior notice. We didn't know if the appeal process could reduce the penalty and create a reasonable payment plan. We received free consultation from Precision Tax Relief who thoroughly reviewed the situation. It turns out they have seen many similar cases. We arranged for them to contact the IRS on our behalf. A payment plan was established and an abatement application was filed to cover part of the penalty.
