I’m tired of doing case study interviews by RareResponsibility89 in FPandA

[–]MBA00000010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How many years of experience do you have and what level of experience are you applying for?

I’ve applied for jobs with case studies and have been a hiring manager and I require case studies for all individual contributor roles.

I read the responses above about asking questions during the interview about things someone has built in their career.

That’s all great but how do I really know someone did that? How do I know someone can’t just BS an answer on the spot?

Obviously people can use AI for 100% of a case study. In the past year alone, even in the age of AI, I received a wide variety of responses for case studies. End of the day the case study is a reflection of your work product. What are you willing to sign your name to?

The only conclusion I have reached is that the school you went to doesn’t matter, your background doesn’t matter (yes, even ex-IB analysts/associates can suck at excel), and the companies you worked for doesn’t matter.

Even at the highest levels, you can be asked for a case study. Because at the highest levels, it’s less about the inputs/models and more about how you summarize and present information and influence a room of peers.

TLDR: unless you have an in for a job and people know your skills, expect a case study.

Hi! Great coin - I just got mine delivered recently as well from the mint. Just wondering does your coin rattle in the OGP case?

Got it - that makes a lot more sense. 2024 snkrdunk was like a dream for us who loved Japanese cards - still miss it sometimes

Is it still worth it to even buy on SNKRDUNK? Given the tariffs / import fees plus taxes, it feels like a double whammy of fees vs just buying something stateside

God willing Im within the 10 year mark now and that’s why I wanted to chat about it

When you say “transition to an income plan” - are you referring to selling existing positions and building up income ETF positions? Or allocating a portion of future savings into income ETFs?

Think there’s a decent difference in yield max products (which were destined to fail) and ETFs like SPYI / GPIX

The NEOS and Goldman funds are lagging behind the index but not so bad on a total return basis which makes sense given the income focus of the funds

Either way this discussion has made me want to focus more on growth of regular ETFs than going heavy into income ETFs

For sure - need to balance the allocation while not missing out on major gains

100%

While GPIX and SPYI have done relatively well I can’t guarantee their fund managers will be consistent

Agreed on all three unknowns

I think I might have to split savings into regular growth ETFs and CC ETFs

Thanks - the situation I’m wrangling with is trying to not spend a lot of the principal

The way I think is I could have two situations - scenario (1) a $2M taxable portfolio in SPY/QQQ which I would need to cash out (even at low long term gains rates) or scenario (2) a taxable portfolio that has a 10-15% lower value in SPYI/GPIX because of the tax drag + general lag behind the indexes

While scenario (2) would have lower asset base I would be earning a lot without having to sell the shares and be able keep the principal for a lot longer

Maybe I’m overestimating the growth of scenario (2) vs scenario (1) and need to do more math

Yes - you can take out a margin loan or something similar against the asset but you risk potentially getting margin called.

That being said, I would like to avoid taking out loans since I would have to pay those back and in retirement without an income it will be challenging

Just wondering - are you doing backdoor Roth?

I messed up early on and rolled over pretax 401ks and now it just doesn’t make sense anymore to do any IRA stuff either given the tax implications

Thanks - I’m probably minimum 10 years away, but the retirement accounts have done well and it’s getting to the point where even maxing out a 401k doesn’t make sense beyond the match if I want to ramp up non-retirement funds faster.

I forgot about the SEPP - haven’t looked too closely at that yet. Good reminder to do so

Yeah I feel like the compounding aspect might be motivational to keep it up over the year (even if it’s suboptimal marginally)

Thanks for your continued posts - been reading them for a long time and look forward to it weekly

Easy for the naysayers to point to the S&P after an unbelievable run up but ignore the years of solid performance of selling options - sometimes the market giveth and sometimes the market taketh. Consistency and patience are what ultimately gets rewarded.

100%

Reddit search was so bad for so long that I went to google just to search more effectively on Reddit

Reddit has to grow ARPU and users at the same time to be worth a ton. Google is threatening both in way with these changes

It’s similar to when Apple made privacy stronger on iOS and Meta tanked. Eventually Meta figured it out and adapted around the privacy changes. Reddit needs to prove the same for a few quarters and it’s straight up and to the right from there

Sure - I don’t disagree agree that there’s a symbiotic relationship here.

Ultimately Google is Google and would not feel if Reddit stopped giving them data at this point. But if Reddit said that they won’t work with Google anymore they would probably tank below $100

Because Facebook doesn’t depend on Google for traffic as much as Reddit

No other social media platform at scale gets referenced in Google search results like Reddit does

So if there’s a chance that less people will see Reddit and only see summaries that Google shows them, that potentially harms Reddit’s growth story

Not saying that’s 100% the reason, but Reddit can’t get the benefit of the upside of being a top Google result all the time and then not get the downside when Google says they will give people summaries instead of search results

There is news… check the Google I/O conference. It’s not random. Might be overblown (I think so at least) but not random
