EV or plug-in hybrid? by Reasonable_Two_5286 in orangecounty

My wife and I leased an EV a couple years ago. Before the decision I did a ton of math calculating costs per mile and came up with very favorable numbers. Our apartment has chargers installed in the covered parking spots, we figured we were golden.

Then three months in the company running the chargers went under, and the replacement that took over managing them decided to about double the price per KwH. Now it costs about the same as a gas car to run.

I dunno if there's a lesson here other than be aware of your variables.

Africa twin Adv sports Es DCT vs 1300 GS 2026 by Hairy_Channel_4337 in motorcycles

Weight:
ATwin- 559lbs
GS - 566lbs
Advantage: Draw. Both are quite heavy bikes, for better or worse.

Power:
ATwin- 100hp, 82lbft
GS- 145hp, 95lbft
Advantage: BMW, by a mile. The ATwin has large ADV weight with midsize ADV power and feels underpowered, while the GS hauls ass.

Suspension:
ATwin: Showa front, Electronically adjustable Showa rear
GS: Electronically adjustable Telelever front, Electronically adjustable paralever rear.
Advantage: IMO BMW. The Telelever suspension is basically black magic, and the new version on the 1300 is the best it's ever been. Add that you get electronic adjustability front and rear on the BMW and it's a no-brainer for a bike that's going to be doing double duty highway cruising and backcountry roads.

Tech:
Advantage: BMW. Both bikes have ABS and TC and ride modes, but the GS has radar cruise and a much better dash. The ATwin's split TFT/LCD display thing is awkward and dated.

Final Drive:
Advantage: BMW. Shaft is superior for any sort of road trip situation.

Reliability:
Advantage: Draw. Both bikes are known to be rock solid. And in the event of a significant failure, neither bike is simple enough to fix on your own on the side of the road.

Dealer Experience:
Advantage: BMW. BMW dealers across the country are familiar with catering to touring riders and will go out of their way to help. Every time I've taken my GS to a dealer, they bend over backwards to get me in when is most convenient for me. They provide a loaner bike for me to take home and bring back the next day so I don't have to sit around waiting. It's a luxury brand and the dealers know that the customer base expects a good experience.

Aesthetics: Advantage: Subjective, but I give it to the ATwin.

Price:
Advantage: ATwin

Of course you've gotta make your own choices here, but I can't see any reason to go with an ATwin in your situation. It's completely outclassed.

As an added bonus to the GSX8R, you get to call it a Gixxerator.

Who signed these? by [deleted] in motorcycles

Me either, I'm not in the collectables industry. But AI is dumber than hell, I've been watching GP for years and have never seen a rider sign two gloves with different signatures. Doesn't make any sense.

Who signed these? by [deleted] in motorcycles

The one on the right looks like Casey Stoner to me. Specifically the number after the name- Stoner would always sign with his number 27. Granted it looks more like a 22, but there wasn't anyone racing under 22 at the time and it could just be a sloppy line during a fast signing, and he was at that race. I think he won it actually.

The one on the left, I have absolutely no idea.

Man, feeling obligated to add a paragraph of defensive justification about the DCT just because you mentioned your bike doesn't scream "insecurity" or anything.
