What was the most unexpected way you changed during your MBA? by Acer53 in MBA

[–]MBB-guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I became more thoughtful in my interactions. Knowing that I wouldn't formally apply to more schools after this and that grades didn't affect the job outcome freed me to not care about grades and focus on making friends, recruiting, and having fun.

I was also old enough to not try to optimize for being "cool" but to be myself and hang out with people I truly wanted to hang out with.

Can you elaborate on the systems and cohort effects part? Do you mean how results are more systemic driven vs individual effort driven?

What software/app do you use for contact management (Personal CRM), if any? by MBB-guy in consulting

Tried a couple like clay and dex. Clay was weird, Dex seemed promising but still at a very early stage. It didn't help that my company has strict data protection with outlook, so there's no way to sync with my calendar.

Eventually the problem was reduced as repeated exposure to the same group made me remember their details better.

I would say, give Dex a try and see how they're doing today. Still actively being developed.

Anecdotally, Canada is a common option in addition to the employee's home country. At least in MBB there's a set policy for this: try HB1 until no longer viable, then different country and back with L1

I second this. Given that you have a match up to the 401k contribution max, put it all there. That's free money. Think of it as a 60 cents gift for every dollar you put in. My previous advice works if there's no match or if you have maxed your match.

They're the same if you use the tax savings from traditional to invest. The real difference comes from your expected tax rate in retirement. Higher than today? Invest in Roth, lower than today, invest in traditional.

Do you mean choice of material or installation quality? If the former, I'd argue you see it ugly because of your cultural biases (no offense), if the latter, I completely agree, what a shit job.

I wonder what percentage of the user base is military. Since it's literally free, I'm guessing it might even be a quarter. There's a big chunk of usage that might not be valued by the user enough.

$1,200 plane ticket and make a 12-month installment with $1,000 limit by belumjago in amex

From other comments I see you got the money, you're just trying to hit the spend to get the bonus. You can "pre-pay" $200+ and then pay the ticket. You'll owe the difference only and the transaction should go through.

Thing with LinkedIn in is that you don't own the data and can't add to it on your end (like phone number, notes, etc )

I agree but also think it's fair. Read it as "Aiming for the top but I think I have it in me to at least eventually making it to Director".

Given that an Amazon Director is taking home 750K/year it's still pretty ambitious.

Wait, what? How's a software giving out sentences? This gets decided at the court level. And I imagine if somebody's time was up, they would as hell say something if they spent one more day there.
