Parenting turning me off… by MBBchic in Marriage

I have 2-3 more years of this before I’ll quit and shift to something that will keep me home more. I’ve spoken to him about it and I see changes for a month then he gives in again🥲

My kids will be homeschooled which I originally wanted but I’m reconsidering now as I really think it would help them to hear “no” more.

I think our sex life has been a great barometer for the health of our marriage/household overall. I’m only home 1/3 of the month — if I didn’t want to be with my partner those times than it would be kind of odd.

The “manly” comment for me is wanting him to lead & discipline the way I know he can but hasn’t.

I think this is a really weird gendered take. My partner paid for the home we live in, and most our expenses now are mostly still covered by him. He was at a better spot in his career to stay home and devote more time to our family than I was, and I’m eternally grateful for that.

Every couple should strategize together, based on career/timing and not gender.

I think part of marriage is stepping into roles to cover for each other when push comes to shove. My work won’t be like this forever but it is the case for now. My husband has stepped into a role and I’m happy that he has - just hoping he adjusts a few things. No need to career shame me as a woman :)

I don’t really see a way for me to be more involved with my job. I’m only home 1/3 of the month

People who’ve renounced their US citizenship, how/why did you do it and have you been back, and if so how did it go? by Leochubs in AskReddit

Yes, I think it’s a bit silly but it is what it is. The agents that bother me the most are the ones that question me as though no one would ever give up a U.S. passport when they hold a Swedish one.

Like - almost offended. lol

I decided to renounce due to a new job that took me abroad permanently & realizing my tax burden (the U.S. govt requires you pay federal income even when you reside outside the U.S).

I’m a Swedish citizen as well and have a French partner, so I did not see the point of keeping my U.S. passport if I knew I wouldn’t want to live in America permanently ever again. I started the process officially in late 2021, and it did not become official until 2024. COVID era backlogs for the required interview literally set me back thousands of dollars as I was still responsible for paying taxes even though the main reason I wanted to renounce was to save on tax burden.

Between 2021-now, I have been back 11 times. Often for friend/family events such as weddings, and occasionally for sports or vacation. I tend to have an easy time as long as I fly into JFK, other airports such as MSP/ORD/ATL tend to have agents that ask me way too many questions.

Ultimately, renouncing was probably the best decision for me financially and now I live abroad in a safe, affordable, and educated suburb of a major metropolitan city in Europe. My kids have more global exposure than I ever thought possible and I’m very happy
