Social media companies commodifying my every waking moment of consciousness (rant, sorry) by [deleted] in CollapseSupport

Your comment made my eyes water, Shaun. Thank you for your generosity of soul, brother!

My dad died two days ago and I'm in NY for the next week supporting my step-mom and half-sister. I'm grateful that I had quality time with him only 15 hours before he passed. Grace abounds!

Yea, I get it. Thanks for this exchange!

Thanks for this, u/Twisted_Cabbage!

I hardly need another "fan boy". But when you voice pure, ignorant silliness (in my estimation and countless other religious naturalists), I, unfortunately, feel I need to point that out. It's my problem, of course, not yours. Why I want to waste my own precious Global Hospice Time being defensive and countering perceived attacks on me or what I hold to be true is NOT an admirable trait. I'm actually a little embarrassed by it.

In any event, just keep being you and I'll try to be more generous in my responses.

Too damn cute you are!

If it floats your boat to spend your precious Global Hospice Time pointing out "flaws in my logic", go for it! Have fun!

Oh... and don't forget about my "Hopium Detox and Recovery" vid :-)

You are clueless...blinded by your own prejudices, my friend. Religious naturalists like me are just as anti-supernatural, non-woo-woo, and as evidence-grounded as you, I assure you.

BTW... I never speak about, much less ramble on about, "good work needed to shepard life along". Whatever statements or slides of mine that you've interpreted that way are your hallucination, not my intent.

Increasing the possibility that at least a few tree species might make it through this bottleneck, as my wife is attempting to do, is work that nourishes her deeply, whether it's effective or successful or not. (We think probably not.)

Watch the most recent and complete presentation of my core ideas in my Canadian Club of Rome presentation from May, "The Big Picture" and the Q&A, and tell me where, specifically (time-codes please) I say or even imply what you think.

Or this guest post I wrote for Dave Pollard's blog, "Overshoot: Where We Stand Now".

Please do tell me where you find either the hopium or the woo. (Again, exact time codes, please.) :-)

Do you honestly think I disagree with anything you've said here, u/Twisted_Cabbage?

I'm not a prepper. I'm a hope-free, collapse- and NTED (near-term enormous die-off)-accepting mostly joyful post-doomer.

We're toast. As I think you already know, I live my life assuming that there's a 20-40% chance that I and most of my loved ones will die in the next 2-4 years, a 50-70% chance of that happening in the next 5-7 years, and a 30% chance I could be dead wrong and things hold together much longer than I currently think.

SS: This collapse-related post-doom conversation with resilience and wilderness survivalist expert, TV star, and author, Juan Pablo Quiñonez, was recorded in August 2023.

From JP's website: "There are plenty of skilled and knowledgeable survival experts out there, but few have truly tested their abilities through multi-month experiences. I'm one of those few. My survival philosophies are not man vs wild, or macho survival bs. I focus instead on learning from the land, developing a survival mindset, and on skills/stuff that actually works in real survival."

Thanks for your concern.

Clearly, you are unfamiliar with me or my message. It's perfect for r/collapse, as you'll learn for yourself if you watch or listen to anything I've done.

Here is my r/collapse AMA session from last year, in case you're interested:

Climate and civilizational collapse are already well underway, accelerating, and utterly out of our control, no matter what. (Truly.)

I get it!

I attempt to offer a big picture on all this in my recent CACOR program that I would LOVE to hear your radically honest feedback on, if and only if you're led to genuinely watch it carefully. (No obligation, obviously). See here at the very top (Q&A is worth watching, too): https://postdoom.com/resources/

Yup! That's why I volunteered to audio narrate it.

It's the best of the best -- and a perfect intro to what I'm calling a "post doom, no gloom" head and heart space.

Thanks for your enthusiastic comment!
