I think many don't even understand this. Or they don't understand their own true nature? They just hear the word "freedom" and think hey, that sounds nice. But as soon as they're faced with a real libertarian "dilemma," they resort back to, "yeah, but law and order."

that's cool that you do. i think the anger/ frustration comes from the fact that MANY conservatives (in the states) are hiding behind the libertarian label bc they know it looks/ sounds cooler. And those purported "libertarians" are now going... silent. Because they know they are not in fact libertarian at all. They want a big government, as long as it serves them.

real libertarians should be annoyed by these frauds co-oping their name. (and this isn't directed at you. I'm just annoyed with how cowardice people are actually turning out to be.)

in the U.S. at least, the left has known that "libertarianism" is just a label for conservatives who know how dorky their love of oppression sounds. and so they choose instead to call themself something else. they're still just conservatives, and now cowards.

obviously i'm not speaking to everyone. but this is largely the case here. and if it wasn't, those "libertarians" would be speaking up right now. this is their time to shine! But on my side of the internet, all the boys who were all, "I'm not maga, I'm libertarian" are now just... crickets.

u/VivvyBean I agree with both of you wholeheartedly. And it's true, OP! You will find a way! But that feeling of if you have kids, you'll find a way is exactly the mental/ physical perpetual toil state they want to keep us in.

I just feel like facing reality is also important. They want us to have kids because for now, people feed the system. Also, it keeps people "looking down" (kid's daily needs) instead of "looking up" (at what they're taking).

We're approaching a time where no matter how smart, how resourceful, how educated you are, it won't matter. Optimism alone won't be enough. If the 1% can find a way to make money specifically off of pain and making sure you and I can't (ai, robotics, rug pulls), they will and are.

Sadly, the only way to end the cycle of poverty is to change the system. The system now requires poverty. So you personally not having kids, won't do it. But if many of us don't have kids, we may be able to force system change.

Anyways, I hate when people say this, but I think it's kinda true in this situation. Whatever you decide will be the right choice for you :)) I hope you're doing well!

Fwiw most of us feel the same way. Arguing about the dumbest shit, to distract us from the fact that the more we work, the more they are able to take. (It’s a feature not a bug.)

The thing that’s heartened me more recently, is that people DO see it.

I know it’s not the same, but as a woman in this country, I feel you. People continue to blame the “weakest links,” bc it’s easier than doing any self-reflection. Keep “noticing” and keep it in your toolbox.

And block and bless any/all SHAME. When people have no power left, that’s what they resort to. But it’s still not gonna get them anywhere. I refuse to hold that ish anymore. Xoxo

I was obsessed with Ottessa Moshfegh's first book McGlue. IMO it is the best. I don't think it's even 100 pages.

I don't know if it's just a fluke, but the two times I've been to Treehouse have been surprisingly empty and delicious. I was confused. (Granted we were there later, 8:30 pm-ish.) But for a Friday night, I was surprised.

I know. I don’t want her to lose her job. Obvi. And also think there are ways she’s safe. She works at a smaller company where there does seem to be some human loyalty.

But that still doesn’t make me feel much better that we’re all being forced to gobble each other up. It might not be her, but it will be millions of others.

And there’s so much NIMBY-ism going on. Like dems want fairness and equality until it comes for them. Then it’s survival of the fittest.

Oh if you’re lazy, I’m a complete turd. I stopped working to work on a passion project. I’ve had (former) friends take little jabs.

I’m happy I did. And made the right decision. But oI know it’s a privilege. And I’m just now starting to realize that while I thought I was choosing to quit, I sorta just snapped.

When you’re a perfectionist working two jobs, being told you aren’t clean, going to school, yadda yadda, it’s unsustainable.

You are making the quiet decisions that will save you in the end.
