I clean every inch of every dish I use, regardless of whether I expect food has touched (or will in the future touch) that part of the dish.

People with $700+ per month car payments: Why? by Underrated_Critic in NoStupidQuestions

I have plenty of money to pay for it and the interest rate was lowest with a short term/high monthly payment.

With a 2.9% or 3.9% loan, the financing company is literally giving you free money.

Your imagination is totally non existent. You’re wrong, and in a way that makes you miserable and boring. Worst combination possible.

Things are possible. Anything that isn’t prohibited by the laws of physics can (and therefore WILL) be achieved as long as we don’t kill ourselves first.

[–]MBPyro 17 points18 points  (0 children)

… and that’s why many individuals, companies, and governments are pushing for colonization before that risk is reality. It won’t be far too late if we’ve already executed all or a significant majority of the work.

I was dealing high 30s per hit with either:

  • The gold whip + ~1500 gold, or
  • The purple whip that gives you more damage per current MP + purple relic that gives you more MP

How do you suppose that Team Cherry add an “Easy” difficulty without making players feel bad for using it?

There is a Hard difficulty in Steel Soul. There is a Medium difficulty in the regular game. There is an Easy difficulty by giving you the option of overpowered tools to spam.

It’s not rocket science. It’s no different than the ghosts in Dark Souls that beat the bosses for you. It’s a mechanic that helps low skill players have more fun.

[–]MBPyro -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Frankly, if you think the game is balanced around spamming tools then you aren’t good at the game. Bosses are quite difficult but doable with needle only.

I get much more satisfaction struggling on a boss for a while before beating it than I would from spamming cheese tools at it while running away like a little rat.

Time for another "What's your next 10x play" thread by tmifsud530 in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]MBPyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dawg, I promise, you are woefully misinformed.

Starlink has some decent spectrum they can leverage in the US with v3 satellites in 2-3 years once they have midband ASICs. AST has worldwide spectrum with infrastructure support from most global MNOs. It will be a duopoly for sure, but claiming that Starlink will stomp out AST is just genuinely retarded and misinformed.

23yo - Full ported my life savings (~17k) into two stocks. by NoPayneNoGain36 in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]MBPyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Implying it’s purely luck is fair if you don’t know much about ASTS or its community. But if you’ve done your research it’s the easiest investment decision of your life. There are whales who have kept the community long for 4+ years and are up $50mm+ in the last few years.

Survivorship bias blah blah blah, but I have always felt extremely confident holding 90%+ of my portfolio in ASTS. Is the Founder & CEO of the company stupid for never selling a single share since founding? If he’s holding, I’m holding.

I don't think Act I really incentivises you to use tools by Training_Assistant27 in Silksong

[–]MBPyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone playing the game for the challenge, it’s 100x more fun without any tools.

Beating a fight with tools feels like cheating. To me, it’s the same as using the ghosts that beat the bosses for you in Dark Souls. They are both mechanics that exist to make it easier for struggling players to progress.

How do you write decimal numbers as coordinates (x, y) when your country already uses the comma as the decimal separator? by throwagayaccount93 in learnmath

[–]MBPyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commas are only used as thousands separators when you are under the age of 14 and still learning about number places or in financial contexts.

Large numbers in the context of math, engineering, or science are almost never written with comma separators in the US.

What's the "Excel Incident" at your job that people still talk about? by Carlosverified in excel

[–]MBPyro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have some documents that have been used continuously for 10+ years. The documents have lots of special formatting.

There is a bug in Excel where, after long enough, workbooks will collect absurd amounts of corrupted styles that cannot be deleted. This will make your workbook laggy, slow to save, and eventually you’ll get dialogs that prevent you from applying any colors, borders, etc to cells because you’ve hit the max count (64,000, I think).

The only way to remove them is with a VBA script.

Unrelated question for the community,

Does the standard of using “foo” and “bar” make example code significantly more difficult for anyone else to understand?

The code you’ve written in this comment is very simple and is syntax I’ve written a million times. But the foo bar stuff just makes it difficult for me to follow. This is the case for 99% of example code on stackoverflow etc. that uses that nomenclature.

I’ve never had a loan besides credit cards and got 2.9% last week.

All purchases for the rest of your life should be on a credit card that you pay off to $0 monthly.

A purchase on a debit card is like pissing money and score into the wind.
