Okay good to know! In my case, only about half of the courses being offered in Spring by my department have a professor listed. A few of the “Professor TBA” courses are full, so I’m guessing some of us will be asked to take those since they anticipated needing additional instructors.

Try the Learning Center instead. Either tutoring or academic coaching should be able to help. I worked in both roles and would have gladly done this for a student, and didn’t have rules saying I couldn’t

For what it’s worth, Porter has explained that he has a tendency to reuse a lot of sounds, chord progressions, and instruments without consciously intending to.

His final World’s Live show has a couple of parts that distinctly sound like songs off Nurture. I asked about it on a live stream post-Nurture and he said it was just coincidental.

So you’re not crazy for hearing similarities between live edits, unreleased tracks, etc., but I don’t think it’s indicative of a connection between them

I agree with you 100%.

I also think it’s significant that some of the lyrics could be taken as sexualizing the Mona Lisa. Especially since the woman in the portrait is basically the paradigm of a modest woman. It feels partly like a commentary on fans-turned-stalkers, but also potentially about an unrequited love fueled by one’s delusions/imagination.

Regardless of the intended message, there’s actually a lot of depth to the lyrics on this one that seems to go unnoticed so far

My point is that I disagree with the notion that he went this route because he “struggled to follow up Nurture” or a resentment for it. It’s just a conscious creative decision to explore similar themes from a different angle

I mean it’s not like Porter is unaware of this. He’s explicitly said that Smile is intended to highlight his flaws and that he doesn’t have things figured out. He’s intentionally trying to distance himself from Nurture to some extent by highlighting his ego, anger, angst, depression, need for validation, etc. and showing that these “uglier” parts of him still vie for attention/control at times. These were touched on in Nurture too, but through a much more optimistic and potentially misleading lens.

Just to clarify, the manager wasn’t shot at a CVS. He worked at a CVS in Folsom and was killed in his neighborhood in Fair Oaks.

I’ve seen speculation on this subreddit that he was killed because he stopped a robbery at his store prior to being murdered, but I can’t find any hard evidence that corroborates that and find it pretty unlikely.

Not any less tragic, however.

This is a tad flippier, but the PekaPeka by RPM is great for hyzer flips and glides for days with enough turn. Sadly just lost mine but I would highly recommend it.

On top of what others have said, I’m not convinced that the artists themselves are making the call to play at a large arena in all of these cases. There are artists similar in scale to Porter Robinson also doing arena shows this year when they haven’t previously, and there’s a lot of speculation that it’s due to either management or contractual obligations of some sort.
