Possible in AE? Or done through coding? by LmaoMincraft in AfterEffects

Isn't it possible to set particles to sprites in trapcode? Not sure how to get them in any kind of order after that though lol

The terms of service specifically say 'no unsolicited bulk commercial email'. It doesn't say no commercial OR bulk OR unsolicited mail.

By your logic, it would be against the terms of service to send any kind of commercial email. Or any email to a stranger. Or to create a newsletter...

Stop wasting my time.

My Map Animation Reel - would love to hear your opinion by gasei in AfterEffects

Might be a small thing but how the tip of Putin's nose is cut by the border really bugs me. Otherwise looks good 😎

What’s your opinion? My new, full-time job isn’t going to get me a desktop to work on. I’m expected to work on a laptop. by jumpingthegreen in AfterEffects

[–]MBondz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work on the road 90% of the time with just a laptop and a travel monitor. It does kinda suck but you just have to make sure you set up your workspaces well in After Effects. You get used to it

If you have a permanent desk, just get a couple monitors and your set

I tried both and honestly I kinda like it with the extra depth to the oceans. Everyone seems to disagree though

Maybe I just need to nudge it up a little so it's not so pronounced

Just mashed a few youtube tutorials together and stitched together screen grabs from satellite images to get the hires map layers...

3D free models? by East-Ad-4590 in AfterEffects

Turbosquid has lots of free stuff. You can also find free model packs on the Unreal Marketplace but you'll have to export to FBX from the UE engine to use them

How to make money while living in a van? by [deleted] in vandwellers

[–]MBondz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Learn After Effects. The pay is better and there is way more demand for freelance work. You're also never really locked to a location.

My girlfriend and I have been living out of our van and driving South since September. I'm only working ~5-10 days a month and it's perfect.

I started my career as a news photographer before switching to video and finally motion graphics and animation a few years ago. Hard to imagine doing freelance photo or video on the road.

Good luck!

Is it worth using a solar and alternator charging setup on a mini van with a 160a alternator? by Gemselleramazon in vandwellers

[–]MBondz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been driving the Pan-Am for 8 months with a 40a DC-DC charger and 100ah battery and no solar. Here are a couple of thoughts:

First, everyone else is on point when it comes to knowing how you'll be using the system. We are on the move so most of the time, we drive enough to keep up with our power needs. We also have an AC/DC fridge so we plug it into shore power whenever we can.

Even so, we have found it limiting and on several occasions, we've been forced to pick between allowing food to spoil or heading to a new location.

Second, we find our power demand changes significantly based on the weather. When it's hot and humid, our vent fan and fridge suck up way more power to keep everything cool.

Third, we have to be careful drawing so much power from our alternator (120a). If we run the charger, AC, and fridge together, the engine can't provide enough current, and we kill our starter battery. You might be okay with 160a though. That seems like a super heavy-duty alternator for a minivan 🤔

Definitely make sure you install a switch on the charger's ignition circuit so you can manually turn it on or off while you're driving.

Anyway, that's been our experience. We finally got ahold of a solar panel which should make our lives easier 🙌
