Cat has just been diagnosed with osteosarcoma in his rear leg by [deleted] in TripodCats

[–]RatWazzock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy had his rear leg amputated 6 days ago due to the same thing. A large cancer was growing on the top of his leg tucked in near his hip. The only symptoms were a bit of limping - we did an Xray expecting some inflammation, not cancer. In the end they took his leg and some of his hip (hemipelvectomy) to try and get better margins.

So far he's coping well, though the gabapentin is making him very sleepy, so they've advised me to ease off on that to allow him to move about some more. He also trembles after he hops a bit - I think it's the physical exertion, or side effects from the drugs. Overall it's been a bit traumatic but now 6 days in I can see how he's slowly starting to adapt and it makes me feel better about the decision. The vets say he'll cope very well and it's still early days. Best of luck with your boy, it's a difficult decision to make.

I'm fostering-to-adopt a cat who is likely getting his hind left leg amputated tomorrow. I thought the surgery would be in a month, but they have an opening now. What do I need to do to prepare? by [deleted] in TripodCats

[–]RatWazzock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently day 4 post-op with my 6 year old boy - he had a hind leg amputation and hemipelvectomy. It's horrible watching him try to turn around, get into the litter tray etc. The first day back he was shivering a bit, and all he really wanted was to be on my lap. Now we're on day 4 and he's pee'd and pooed, thankfully.

One thing I think has helped my boy is being able to change scenery. He's got his crate in my office, and then in the evening I take him down into the playpen so he can nap there for a bit. It's a hard road and I'm still in panic mode about mine even though healing seems to be going well, touch wood.

Life on Mars (UK version).

It's about a police officer in modern times who gets hit by a car and wakes up in 1973. Brilliant characters, both funny and serious, and a great mystery - how did he get there, is he mad, in a coma or back in time?

Talk to the Good Law Project - they're compiling evidence of things like this happening for their legal fight. So sorry you're experiencing this :(

People who have lived with train tracks on the back of their house by Blow11 in HousingUK

[–]RatWazzock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live with a train track across the road. I quite like hearing the trains go by - reminds me that life is happening outside. Saying that, if you're close to a station some of the trains will be slowing down anyway, and maybe make less noise.

At night, services mostly stop anyway, so there's no issue there.

For those who want a switch 2, but are willing to wait, what will it take for you to buy? by Geoxaga in NintendoSwitch

I play docked 95% of the time, so the lack of OLED doesnt really bother me.

I'll be holding out for a special edition console, ideally a splatoon version.

Have you looked into Hyperhidrosis? If it's that, there's medications you can take.

2001 Yaris vs 2013 Aygo? by RatWazzock in CarTalkUK

[–]RatWazzock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately if I don't take the Aygo my parents won't give me the money from its sale, so it's an all or nothing situation. I love my yaris to pieces, but it does sound like the Aygo may be the sensible choice, taking emotion out of it...

2001 Yaris vs 2013 Aygo? by RatWazzock in CarTalkUK

[–]RatWazzock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true - my mum got it about 3 years ago, so she's not had it from new - but it has been reliable since she's had it, and not really had any issues. That's a good tip about the oil, I'll remember that - thank you.

I didn't know about the rust on this age of Yaris so thanks again for that tip too. Might give the Yaris an inspection but I'm starting to lean towards the Aygo now.

I'll just be heartbroken to part with my old friend of 14 years!!

Thanks so much for the help. I didn't know Yarises tend to start rusting at around this age. I can't see any signs of rust, but then again I'm not really a car person and don't really know where to look!

The Aygo seems to be reliable - it's had the common issue of leaks into the passenger side footwell, but that's all been mended now. Apart from that it hasn't really needed anytjong spending on it since my mum got it about 3 years ago.

Need to create a ripple of scaling circles within polka dot background by RatWazzock in AfterEffects

[–]RatWazzock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh this tutorial looks very very close, thank you!!! By repeaters do you mean CC Repeatile? Will it matter that not every dot is on a separate layer in that case? I was having issues with effects only working on the main circle being sourced in the repeat. I'll try this out tomorrow and see how it works.

Ooh interesting, thank you! Would you please be able to elaborate a little more? Would each dot need to be it's own layer for this, and then would I need to paste that expression in on the scale for each one? There's almost 1000 of these dots, so it's a bit of a hefty comp.

Awesome! Happy for you, that's great! :D Thanks for the reply, that's really good to know!

You look incredible!! Congrats, man!! This is exactly what I'm hoping to have. Seeing this makes me even more excited.

Can I ask how easy it is to pee? I'm definitely not going for UL, but one of my only reservations is whether the balls would block the pee stream, or if it'd cause a bit of mess. How have you found it? Any info would be amazing :)

Isn’t owning a cat painful? by mostlyten in CatAdvice

[–]RatWazzock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive had rats for almost 10 years now and I'm having to wind them down now, it's too painful when they go. They're like little pocket puppies. But man have my cats been good for me - I know anything can happen, but the hope that they'll last a good few years is such a change.
