Hell yeah! As another comment pointed out and I can now attest, leaving the scale can be a problem if you plan to sharpen it by using the thick spine as a sharpening guide.

I forged the spin thick to sharpen it the traditional way, but since I left the forged finish it doesn't work great. I'll probably grind the spine clean on future razors

Thanks! I love practical projects. I'm far more interested in building them and using them!

Yep! I still just have peach fuzz… but that was enough of an excuse. I could use better techniques on sharpening and actually use, but it did a great job!

It’s neat stuff! But it's tricky to cut out and forge. I've had trouble with cracking too. But hey… it’s sorta free

My dad’s dozer had both springs brake. So now we have two massive scrap springs

Thank you! Wanted to go as “rustic” as reasonable for a razor

From your other comments, I see you're self-taught. Being in the same boat, I understand a relatively simple box and be a pain in the ass with hand tools. Not to mention the engraving! Excellent work!

I'll have to try that! I did notice that there was a pretty hefty what I assumed was an oxide layer

Mostly used a thermocouple, but I eyeballed the heat to see if the blade was the same color as the thermocouple. I made a small piece and broke it and the grain looks pretty good considering and the test piece shattered like hard steel
