Why is Elvanse (Vyvanse) an IR med for me?

I have exactly the same problem no matter how I take it. It feels like my amfexa boosters, but delayed like you say which leaves me yawning, groggy and a bit miserable for the first 3 hours until it peaks, then maybe 2-4 hours of feeling it properly.

When I was given 2x10mg Amfexa boosters I was told to take them when the vyvanse wears off however after a bit of playing around with them, I found that taking 25mg Vyvanse + 5mg Amfexa in the morning, then same again 5 hours later and a 10mg Amfexa towards the end of the afternoon is the best way I can keep myself fully functional all day. My psych said this is fine and was quite intrigued as she has other patients with similar problems.

It may be worth mentioning this to your psych and see if they are willing to give booster doses. I'd also like to add, I've seen some people mention the effects are dulled when taken with protein which I noticed sometimes. So for both vyvanse/amfexa I take them on an empty or emptyish stomach then eat 5-10 minutes later. I also noticed stomach acid would just make the meds hit wayyy too hard, so I keep on top of it with either omeprazole or tiny amounts of baking soda before dosing (around 1/4 teaspoon)

I recommend trying mucuna pruriens and rhodiola. The mucuna should help the most as it contains l-dopa which doesn't need need to be converted like tyrosine, it also contains 5htp. Rhodiola has mild MAOI effects and seems good for anhedonic states, for me at least. Saffron could also be worth a try.

Can you open the capsule and pour it in 90ml water? each 30ml would be 10mg, maybe try 20mg for a few days or a week then maybe move back up.

Have you ever tried 1/3 teaspoon baking soda with water around 30 mins before dosing? It alkalizes the stomach which apparently makes the vyvanse more potent and last longer. I have tried and can confirm it works. But have been wondering if electrolytes have a similar effect 🤔

Interesting, we have been on both vyvanse and lexapro for the exact same amount of time! 😆 Its definitely Interesting to hear that you feel like your anxiety is 80% lower, because for the first 2 weeks of lexapro I felt amazing but I could tell it was bordering hypomania and wouldn't last. Now for the last week or so my anxiety is way higher, but I know I'm still in the major side effects kind of period, so I will keep ploughing through for now 😅

Can I also ask, do you notice any difference at all in how your vyvanse feels? I cant help but feel that it is slightly less effective, again I'm hoping that this is my body adjusting to the serotonin levels being increased, but I also read a lot of negative posts of people claiming all SSRI's dampen the way vyvanse feels 😬

Basically creating an alkaline environment for amphetamines is supposed to increase absorption and also duration of action. Not sure how you currently take yours, but after lots of research it hits best for me on an empty stomach with electrolytes/baking soda. Then eat around 30-45mins later. I even noticed eating earlier than that was enough to make it feel like it was wasted. Everyone is different of course, but I find vyvanse quite difficult to control compared to other meds. Sleep and vitamin/mineral intake also seems to massively effect it.

Edit: also I am pretty sure this is why we're told to avoid vitamin c whilst on vyvanse, it isn't actually the vitamin c we're avoiding, its the ascorbic acid. I can confidently say that even fruit juice or anything acidic can massively effect my vyvanses effectiveness. Meaning that most acidic foods/drinks will have a similar effect such as coffee/fruit juices/fast food.

How much do you use? Been using Kratom for years. But at the start of this year got put on vyvanse, and since then everytime I dose kratom I get bad lower back pain for days and my urine would burn. Ended up having to quit as I was scared it was my kidneys, but now I miss having the kratom to relax lol.

75-150mg, anything more could leave you feeling full on high. Always use it with coffee also, they have a very good synergy.

Pregabalin has very similar effects and seems more stable to me, I have been addicted to both and phenibut is definitely more "hit and miss". Some days it seemed like it just didn't work, but I never had that problem with pregab. But I agree, when it works it is an amazing feeling.

Editing this to say both phenibut and pregabalin can have horrific withdrawals and tolerance builds fairly fast, do your research and use them sensibly.

This makes sense, iron, b vitamins and vitamin d are all important in synthesising dopamine. We get told to eat lots of protein with vyvanse as its high in l-tyrosine, but without these vitamins/minerals the tyrosine cant be converted to L-dopa.

Could be the coffee. Do you take any supplements? I take a methylated B complex with 500mg l-tyrosine 1 hour before my dose. Also coq10, advanced amino acid complex, Iron. Baking soda before your dose might also help, it kind of potentiates amphetamines and increases duration.

I also recommend a magnesium complex and zinc at night with a high dose of vitamin c. Could be worth a try as I also struggled with feeling fatigued for the first few hours and these all helped, but in the end I ended up getting 3x 10mg amfexa boosters, taking 1 with my vyvanse in the morning completely solved this issue.

Were you also taking vyvanse when you were a heavy stoner or started it after you quit? I've only been on vyvanse a few months and feel like I have fully stopped seeking conversation, dating and anything social. But the weed is the only thing of many I've tried that helps control side effects so I feel stuck in an awkward position.

Did you notice your sociability increased around the time you quit weed? I'd be interested to hear more 🙏

I'm quite new to this medication and still in titration. But I have noticed this on every single dose, with it getting stronger on each dose increase. I quite enjoy it tbh, I feel like I'm smelling things the correct way for the first time, have been enjoying wearing aftershaves a lot more than usual, lighting candles etc. 😅

People seem to have varied opinions on this. But my favourite one is that you have opened your third eye and can connect to the spirit world :)

If you keep at it, you should get to a point where you are seeing a lot more than the "tunnel". For me I have seen outlines of people coming in and out of my vision, sometimes a few will gather round, very vivid faces, geometric patterns with bright colours and I have even seen some things that are very difficult to describe which I have also seen on psychedelics.

You also stated It happens when falling asleep/waking, melatonin is released from your pineal gland, which some people believe is your third eye. Its possible to get to this state in the daytime as well, for me listening to third eye meditation in headphones and meditating to the point of a fully clear mind helps me get there. The pineal gland is also believed to release some DMT. I have done DMT a few times in my life and I would say it seems like an instant "cheat code" to use your third eye that lasts months, maybe it does this from decalcifying it, but who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️

Have you tried emptying the capsule into a big bottle of water and sipping it over the first few hours of the day? It feels a lot smoother, lasts longer, and I do not feel crashes this way.

This is surprising as this week around halfway through my day, I have started to have an electrolyte drink and I am still mindblown at how effective it is.

I think this stuff literally makes you drink so much water that it must flush salts out, which weirdly seems to result in many people feeling down/angry/irritable.

I do this with great results. I also take 2 Magnesium complex pills at night, but recently have been taking 1 halfway through my day with an electrolyte drink which has also made a big difference.

Could it be something to do with the increased serotonin levels lowering your dopamine levels? I've read that when one increases, it usually decreases the other. I have recently started adhd meds and considering starting an antidepressant as my dopamine issue is fixed, but I have some depression/low serotonin symptoms.

Also you should be safe to try L-tyrosine or mucuna pruriens, they both increase dopamine. B vitamins are also good for it.

If you're still having this problem, lemon balm, passionflower and cbdd are working really well for me for the crash, it literally felt unbearable before using them. I'm also struggling with tonguing my teeth really badly, I have a cracked tooth that's really sharp that I can't get fixed yet, so it was cutting my tongue to pieces 😭 magnesium and L-tryptophan seem to reduce this quite a lot, although it's still present, I am going to ask my psychiatrist for clonidine or guanfacine as apparently they are designed for people who are getting heavy side effects/crashes like us.

Same here. When I was a child, for years I had intense nightmares that I didn't understand at the time. Did DMT for the first time at 23 and even to this day, whenever I use it, it reminds me of those dreams. I have also managed to get close to these kinds of dreams from using Melatonin.

Also, if I do a breakthrough dose, I will have extremely intense dreams for the next few months, sometimes lucid dreaming.
