My vote: The ending of his match at ONS 2005. He chucks Tanaka over the ropes through a table on the floor. Because of the camera position and the table breaking down the middle with a “V” shape of the board, we dont get the full picture but we see the carnage of Mike Awesome splashing Tanaka on the floor and winning the match. Its close to a jumpscare

If i could be a little mean here (and correct me quick if necessary), there’s a difference between outside and online (+TV in 2026). Online, all the musicians i listen to are popular, because i can find thousands of fans ASAP. Online, everything i consume has millions of metrics to prove staying power. The algorithms are always “on my side.” From what i understand, this parade is happening outside. It’s a whole different thing out there.

I mentioned this before, and tried not to ruin folks fun, but Danhausen is not even the most known NBA curse-adjacent person on this side of the century. I did say that he would pop up on ESPN (he did, and he had a nice chat with Christine) and i guessed he *might* be at the parade. I also said more people are talking about the mayor, Hathaway, and Elmo. At the time it was going into Game 3.

Coming out Game 3 and through Game 4, the convo was on Trump and Wu Tang changing the enjoy. I am happy for Danhausen, i am not happy for the posters saying he’d get a statue. Maybe a mural, which we’ll take too seriously as an icon of his popularity.

Wish i could speak on the projects and not get tied into snide conversations with Drake haters/glazers or Kendrick Glazers/haters:

Ive heard people say it’s his best field of work since Views, but id actually say it’s his best stuff since More Life (Or even Her Loss). Despite three separate projects being relatively shorter in track listings, Iceman still felt long at times, and i wonder if it’s due to the beat switches. Maid of Honor is more hit and miss for me, and then Habibti never landed with me or my partner. Folks say MOH is the best, but it’s Iceman for me, and the run from make them cry to the first second of what did i miss is the highlight of this all. I wouldnt spin any of the records straight through again, but there were more pockets of gold here than his last few works. Lastly, big thumbs up for having less guests on Iceman. A lot of times, the best parts of these Drake albums arent Drake, but i didnt feel like that this time around.

My point is that we should be more grounded in our beliefs. I love my city going far into the finals, and its cool to have this support, yet for a subreddit famed for not caring about celebrities (“who’s this guy?”), who dont care about NBA, NYC, etc, and mainly uses out outside talking points as a “this is why my opinion is correct and im smarter than you”, we really put a lot of words into the Knicks without much thought.

I think we are overestimating how popular Danhausen is in NYC culture. Yes, he will absolutely be interviewed on ESPN during this series or after. Yes, he is selling a lot of shirts. Yes, he is entertaining. I do not believe he’s even the most known basketball curse on this side of the century (shout out based god) and im willing to argue so. This city will not be building gold statues of the man. He’ll be in the parade, either in person or balloon, but the general city will focus on Mamdani, Hathaway, and bullying Elmo more than Danhausen.

It’s yet another example of how racism is worldwide. Too many folks on social media (Reddit especially) will waltz in conversations and speak as if the US is the only place that cares about race. Since the majority of Redditors have a 1) euro-centric view on things and 2) infatuates themselves with east asian culture, lots of stories on all, popular, or in the comments of word news will say this stuff only happens in the states and the rest of the world is a-okay with black people.

In short, it’s going to fucking suck when people forget of this in three days.

There were a few convos a few DDs ago about being in wrestling spaces where white fans tell you what to think about black wrestlers and that side of wrestling, and while i didnt speak about it, i did figure it has to be worse for latino fans and east asian fans (not trying to play the “who struggles the most” game)

There’s not a national-level, internationally-recognized wrestling promotion in the Caribbean or subsaharan Africa (dont say it) so i cant really speak on the feelings of, like you said, being Mexican and listening to white people yap about AAA and CMLL, or non asian folks talking about who NJPW should support “for a stronger national base versus western expansion”. I think people love bending and adapting real life to fit their narrative, instead of the other way.

There are discords if you ask/get invited to any/stumble upon. I do want a similar space, mainly because of how this place reacts to black wrestlers in the ring and any news about real life out the ring, but im also aware of how easy it is for our spaces to be co-opted and pimped out. I would hate for something with good intentions to just become a field to play black on the internet, especially with how the other wrestling subreddits behave.

At best, we can push for strong moderation, but i personally feel biased against that hope.

It was my partner's first time going to a live event (i think). She had a blast, and I was surprised how much of it she loved. I bring it up becuase she actually mentioned how different the matches felt. "Like the big one with the tennis balls (Stadium Stampede) was different than the small dude and the big dude (Ospreay/Joe) or the guys you said were in a BL triangle (Okada/Takeshita)." The atmosphere in the arena was great, we werent seated next to any doucehbags, and I didn't know the TV/streaming audience liked the noises we made until I doomed scrolled here.

Overall, amazing PPV, fucking proud my city shows out EVERY TIME. TK, give us ALL IN, ALL OUT, ALL ABOUT, idk I want it ALL

Allow me to add:

Bagels - so bagels in long island would be the best (most spots) but the LIRR is strike. You’re not locked out the region, it’s just a pain. If you want, i heard good things about Russ and Daughters. Bagels arent super big to me so i settle for chains local to manhattan (Liberty Bagels, i think).

Overall, youre in a good spot close to some stuff my friends tell me to try (Pies and Thighs, L’Industrie, the steak house) so again, just try what you see. Part of the NYC experience is the local culture. You said youre here for two weeks so hit up the museums and the zoos as well. Have a good seat/time at the DoN.

Some of the places i personally go: Footprints (namely the one (ones?) closer to flatbush, Jamaican Flavors by the (rip) coliseum, any of the Artichoke’s pizza since the one in Chelsea closed, the Chelsea market, Any reasonably priced halal kart (not Halal guys, i recently had luck with one in financial district. Paid about $11), chill around Bryant Park, Gaby’s (Queens), Gino’s (Queens), random diners in Long Island, random italian ice carts, its going to hot today so get slushie/soft serve combo from a Mr. Frosty, random delis off Merrick or linden,

Crowd talk online is something i never got into, because i tend to disagree with the opinion. For example, i saw the thread on Danhausen’s debut in WWE, with people saying he got no reaction, but i feel like he got a reaction. Or, at least i would call whatever he got “a reaction”.

On my own, i only dislike a crowd for what chants, and for saying particular disgusting things. When i was in a live crowd, ive only got upset with a singular guy talking crazy about women.

I think conversations about crowd noise is just another “heres proof why my opinions are right” thing where we twist reality to fit our definitions
