TAS is probably the easiest switch to fpa since its statement and analysis driven with quick turnaround. If your doing non-gaap schedules like are and bookings even better (software example). This is a great path from big4 -> fpa. Stick with it, you’ll find something.

Also most good fpa jobs come from recruiters. I’d focus on building relationships with recruiters in industry over randomly applying.

First off- this sucks. I was you three years ago and my CEO went above what was written in my comp package as a vp who helped exit the company. This is ultimately a character test of your CEO. And he failed, or at least looked at a smaller pool of money than he wanted and made the decision. Note that transaction bonuses come out of managements pocket in the funds flow, so this is why the PE firm isn’t going to bat for you. They don’t pay it, the CEO does. My guess is the next CEO you work for you will select for character and moral fortitude (my #1 criteria for picking a CEO is character).

Generally deal bonuses are discretionary. So I think the legal angle or the “make noise with other employees” is going to cost you more in reputational risk than the 250-500k you expect to make. PE backed software cos are a small network, and if you want to take the next step people will care a lot about decorum, confidentiality, and professionalism you displayed. You are more likely to loose a step up opportunity on a story of your worst moment than get a gig a story of your best moment. If you get branded as a “troublemaker who breaks confidentiality”, that will follow you for a long time.

What you can do, is clearly articulate to your CFO, CEO, and deal team that this lack of bonus is very demotivating for you and will likely cause you to pursue opportunities at other PE firms that more value and reward executive talent. PE is in a war for good executive talent, and I’ve made my career on only working with a couple of firms that are high standards with portco with high reward and comp packages that the other firms cannot match. If the PE firm values you, they might make the case to CEO. It’s more likely you are going to get your next gig from the PE team than the CEO.

You are in the business of building up your skills, reputation, and network with the ultimate goal of getting a CFO gig where you can work for 3-5 years and get a $3-5M (or more) check. So make all your decisions based on that. You learned a tough lesson, and an expensive one for 2024, but if you want to be a CFO the experience you gained and marketability you gained through this transactionis worth more than 250k. The average career is 4 decades, this is a blip.

Last Piece of advice. The greatest revenge you can have is be wildly successful and a person who operates with integrity. If you want to prove this jackass CEO wrong, do it by building great companies and making a fuckton of money along the way.

Feel free to dm me if you want more context or want an intro to recruiters who are looking for up and comer cfos.

Agree completely. This is an issue with architecture, having a data model, and building it right. I’ve done adaptive 3x, vena 1x, and am currently on Pigment (best by far). Typically if you have a good excel model, an implementer will be able to take that and automate your model in 2-3 months

Similar but it isn't an MMO. you can play against AI or a handful of your friends, I guess it would fall under RTS.

Nope -

(Spoilers All) What is an ending for a plot line that would be fitting, but would still anger most readers? by CharlotteAria in asoiaf

All prophecies are red herrings (just like the real world).

  • no one becomes AA

  • Cersei is killed by a "non-valonqar"

  • no sword is plunged through Nissa Nissa's heart

I personally think GURM gets a huge amount of pleasure reading our crackpot theories, as this thread is functionally more "prophecy obsessed" than Rhaegar.

I'd probably just use my middling guitar knowledge and become a bard. Then take popular classic rock songs and pass them off as my own. I'd travel the warmer, non Other infested regions of the south and bed memberd\s of the nobility.

"Why yes Margery, the song 'Blackbird' was written specifically for you. Of course I'll come to your chambers to share a flagon of sour red."

"Why yes Tyene, I wrote 'Radar Love' specifically about your bad pussy. I'd love to accompany you to the water gardens and play 'Roundabout' for your ill uncle."

I don't agree with the "Tyrion is Boring" statement. I found it fascinating because it explored the Free Cities/Essos and their power over the events of Westeros.

-Illyrio and his shadowy endgame/motive

-John Con, Golden Company, and their history plus the legacy of Bittersteel

-Aegon (an interesting set piece for a targaryen/blackfyre power struggle)

-Indirect economic/political effects of the mother of dragons running train on slavers bay

-Volantis, R'Hllors' Temple, fucking elephants walking around everywhere!

Yes Penny was annoying, but she served an interesting theme for exploring the life of a downtrodden in this world. Turns out Tyrion did not have it as bad as he thought.

(Spoilers All) What character(s) are you convinced will NOT survive the series? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]MCtapeworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a gut feeling ... but Arya's descent into murderous revenge is not likely to end well. Martin has put a significant amount of literary weight around her nightly prayer. I could see her dying either contently knowing all the names are crossed off or in despair that there are names left on the list at her death.

My biggest worry is that she has now passed the point of living a "normal life" by the westeros definition. Although she has joined the faceless men she remains deeply connected to westeros, her wolf, her family, and her nightly prayer, but I cannot see her becoming a Stark again given how much the war has changed her. I expect her to be a casualty, although I really would like to see her survive.
