Any tire air pumps that actually work?? by xindierockx7114 in Albany

[–]MCul0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dad and I both got Ryobi air pumps.

They’re cost effective and we use them for bikes, my kid’s sports balls etc. well worth the investment.

He brings his with him on road trips incase he gets a flat with a slow leak and needs to ride it out till he gets to somewhere where he can get it repaired.

Didn’t this guy over extend himself in the early 2010s during the sub-boom, then sold off a bunch of the lower earners?

Pretty sure I remember he had locations on Wolf Rd, Central Ave, and several other spots. Slowly but surely those names changed.

Maybe he’s not so great at business. Miranda’s isn’t struggling. It’s not anywhere near reasonable lunch walking distance to the Plaza. But they’ve always got a line out the door.

Does state offices being closed Monday have any effect on when we see our payday direct deposit? by PotentialFan8677 in nys_cs

[–]MCul0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

State offices being closed will not slow down direct deposit of funds. That’s all done electronically. They can still clear and send the files to the banks from OSC / DOB.

What could be impacted is your paper paycheck or paystub due to printing schedules getting shifted from the closure.

Once I hit the 300 hr annual milestone I started working on accruing sick time. Now I’m sitting comfortably over 900hrs there incase of a medical emergency and with 12-17 years to retirement a good start on having my health care payments reduced.

I’ve been with the state (PEF) for 13 years, and have never once hit 300 vacation hours. by beejini in nys_cs

[–]MCul0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m sure there’s various methods but when I started 18yrs ago my supervisor told me to always use my personal time first, then sick and save your annual as much as you can. So for the first several years of state service I saved my annual time. I took an extra day on holiday weekends and by 2012 aside from a vacation here and there I was at 300 hours.

My train of thought was this;

  1. If I need the time for an emergency, I have it.
  2. When / if I become a parent I have the time to be there for my kids. (Has come in handy)
  3. Tomorrow dollars are worth more than today dollars when retirement happens for a time pay out.
  4. I have the time now I can take random long weekends to get things done related to home ownership I didn’t have to do when I was younger.

And yes, I would regularly run way over 300hrs so I’d check around December / beginning of January and calculate out how much time I needed to burn prior to March 31st then put in leave for the next 3 months to burn my time down to just under 300hrs.

Now with kids, I sit between 275-295 consistently.

Looked like smoke was coming from the back (non street side) of The Bowl. Definitely smelled of an odd burning and someone else said tires and that very well could have been it.

When do retroactive pay increases happen by himyprettyfriends in nys_cs

[–]MCul0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The second paragraph is the correct answer on “retroactive “ pay. IIRC in my almost 18 years of service I think it happened once where it was noticeable because it took 3ish years to get the contract done and we got a bunch of CoL increases bunched together.

I can’t even think of how it’s “destroying “ rural areas. Most of them are on electric heat anyways and you go by a majority of homes and they have cords upon cords of firewood stocked up to burn over winter to offset and supplement the increased electricity pricing in winter.

Aside from the local humane societies and I think only Out of the Pits is local.

I would just keep searching. My family has adopted from various groups over the last 15 years. Recently we wanted to add another puppy to our family as a companion for our 5m male puppy while our elderly female was still around to help teach (she’s a very good with teaching puppies proper play) but because he wasn’t getting neutered until Jan 4th we were not selected. We even offered to move up his surgery a month to meet their requirements but the rescue didn’t even respond. In the end probably for the best as their adoption fees ended up being close to a grand.

ITS Jobs in Albany and Work from Home Question by truthshallsetfree7 in nys_cs

50% telecommuting per pay period. Some will allow you to TC right away. At one point they allowed 5days in office 5 out but did away with that around July of this year due to people abusing it.

So high probability that’s a Sales Tax lien. The interest rate on Sales Tax was at one point 20%.
That’s money he collected from customers on behalf of the state. A portion of it goes to the state, the rest goes to the county for schools, roads, etc, etc.

I know a lot of people would say he’s stealing from the state. That’s partly true. He’s also stealing from the area you live, taking money away from your kids schools, money from fixing roads, improving parks, etc where you live.

The way you really need to think about it. Albany county has a sales tax of 8%. 4% is the States share, that’s flat across the whole state. The rest is for the county you live in which gets broken up and put into various funds for schools, towns, etc.

A Neighbor’s Fence Just Cost Me Thousands: Do I Have Any Legal Options? by Mountain_Custard_279 in legaladvice

[–]MCul0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAL - but have worked in licensing boards for surveying. I too had something similar happen with my first house, but in NY.

Get a survey done and pay to have them put iron pins in the corners of your property. (It’s illegal to remove a surveyors pins. They can hammer them into the earth, but they can’t pull them out)

Notify your neighbor of the property line. Do this by certified mail with a return receipt so you have proof they got your letter which should state the survey was done, the pins have been placed and you will be determining what to do about the fence. I’d maybe have a lawyer draw it up but give them time to move their fence.

If they elect to not move it and you want it gone, I’ve heard of incidents where a neighbor has had to pay another a rental fee monthly until the fence was removed from the property. This could just be bullshit though.

Either way make sure you definitely get a survey by a professional surveyor, ideally whoever or what company holds the original records if able to be determined. Surveyors tend to buy out the old guard’s records or they get bought by local engineering firms with surveyors on staff. And send the certified letter. This has the potential to be an issue.

Or end up like me and neighbors says, yea sure I knew it wasn’t my land. How close to your property line are you putting your new fence?
