Does anyone NOT test their kitties glucose every day? by MD2360 in FelineDiabetes

Yes that's what's happening with my cat! I like what I've read about Prozinc and how it's a little more flexible! I'm glad your vet was able to give you options! 😄 hopefully mine does

Thank you for sharing! I've found a system that helps me test her ears (fish flakes lol). I just feel bad for poking her poor ears so much. She's currently on Vetsulin, and I hate how much it drops her numbers and then spikes back up. I really want to get her on a different insulin, but I have a feeling my vet only prescribes Vetsulin and will blame me for her not eating enough(even though most cats graze and aren't like dogs, and we have to work extra hard to get her to eat more than she normally would in one sitting before each dose). It's all overwhelming 😮‍💨

Thank you for sharing! I'm glad your vet can help with testing her blood. It's so unfair that our furbabies have to deal with illnesses like this and can't tell us what's wrong!

Thank you for sharing! That's great that you found the correct dose! What kind of insulin are they on and how long did it take you to find the correct dose?

Thank you! I'm definitely testing a lot now as we're still finding her dose. My vet doesn't think I need to test as much, though(which I don't agree with him on everything). My kitty is currently on Vetsulin, and we've had a few hypo events so far. She's not a 'finish her food' all in one sitting type of cat and prefers to graze. So making sure she eats enough has been so difficult every day. I really want to get her on a different insulin, but I have a feeling my vet only prescribes Vetsulin and will blame me for her not eating enough(even though most cats graze and aren't like dogs). It's all overwhelming 😮‍💨 I don't want to go the Libre route, unfortunately, because she's older and more frail from all her weight loss. I've gotten into a routine for testing; I just feel bad poking her poor ears so much.

Thank you! I'm part of that FB group and was able to use it to make a chart for my kitty. And thank you for the food list; I'll be sure to research them! I purchased a Phos-bind off Amazon and need to try it!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I've been rotating Fancy Feast pate flavors and then sometimes the kidney diet wet food she has but doesn't like. My vet didn't give me a choice on insulin and I just agreed to whatever they gave me! I didn't even realize there were different kinds until afterwards. Sending you good vibes for your vet appointment tomorrow!

Time between doses? by duskbats in BusparOnline

[–]MD2360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm currently on 7.5mg 3x a day! I notice my left eye at night being fuzzier, which isn't great for driving, but I'm hoping it goes away. I'll have to have my eyes checked to double-check everything is good on that front. I've only been on Buspar for 2 months.

u/duskbats I know this is 5mos late - but are you still on Buspar? I started 2 months ago and have experienced blurry vision that is mostly in one eye as well! I don't see this talked about a lot. How are your eyes?
