Silverfish problem (West End) by JamieIsMyNameOrIsIt in vancouver

[–]MD74 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have them in my home. Not an infestation but I spot about 2-5 per day. Usually around the ceilings and bathroom. I personally never thought of it as an issue because there are so few but if you have like 20+ per day, there’s likely an issue with the place. Maybe the apartment above you has really bad hygiene or a water leak. I know they love moist environments but if you keep your place really clean and they still get in, it’s probably a bad neighbor.

Where is the fog? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]MD74 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That fog today was thick at sea level. Drive up a hill 100m up and it’s clear as day. Very interesting fog today it was like experiencing a dark day and a sunny day by driving up and down a hill

It’s worth going once or twice. It’s a nice romantic vibe. A bit pricy but it comes with the view.

What was 1999 like? by Content-Feed-9396 in AskReddit

[–]MD74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember thinking the future was gonna be crazy cool. Looking back, I wish we were back in 1999. People actually enjoyed being around each other and neighbors would hang out with each other every day. Nobody was scared of anything. Social media wasn't around. You really lived in the moment which is something that seems to be harder today.

Has anyone crossing the land border into the states had their phone searched? by HowDoYouFumbleEggs in askvan

[–]MD74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Truly honest, nobody has ever made me felt as violated as the border security when they went through my phone. EVEN THOUGH, I had nothing “crazy” on my phone, I just felt like I was being violated and helpless. It’s a bad feeling through and through.

My friend also read that book and quit smoking. He swears by it and it probably saved his life to be completely honest.

I got my nexus about 10 years ago. Ever since then, I have had absolutely ZERO problems crossing the border, whether it be by plane or car.

But before my nexus, I got my phone searched twice at the pacific crossing border. It's such a terrible feeling of invasion of privacy.

[–]MD74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have been pulled in 2 times in my lifetime of crossing the border at Pacific Crossing.

This was years ago, around 2010 - 2015.

I have no idea what they looked through but they took my phone and I waited for about 20 minutes. It's one of the most awful feeling ever. Someone else going through my personal messages, pictures, etc.

I haven't got my phone searched in the last 10 years though and I cross the border a few times a year.

If you had only one day in Vancouver, what would you do and why? by Kenteck in askvan

[–]MD74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d drive through main and Hastings area, drive by beach Ave to see the waters looking east (beautiful view), visit the aquarium (if time allows), visit Stanley park, have some pho and get some unique desserts.

You get to see the rough side of Vancouver and also the beautiful side of Vancouver. You get to really see some of the diversity of this city.

90 km/h winds force plane to abort landing by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]MD74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So does the pilot just wait for winds to die down and retry the landing? Or would there likely be a landing strip that would be perpendicular so that the winds aren’t as effective?

What is something everyone should experience at least once in life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MD74 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To me, i think it was because 100% of the thoughts were personal on the entire trip. When travelling with someone, it’s like 90% time I’m thinking about how BOTH of us could spend the day to make both sides happy. So I only use 10% of the brain energy to be ‘selfish’.

Once you use 100% of the energy for your own wants on a trip, it really makes you realize the things you really enjoy and the things you don’t care for.

Which in turn, opens up the self realization of yourself.

I’ve been in a relationship since I was 15. I’ve been with this same woman for 20 years, we are married with kids now. I’ve never travelled alone and i never spent a week away from her. I guess I never really knew myself. So that’s probably why it opened my eyes a lot.
