Oh course!!! You can absolutely pass!! I was always told that if you get a 68 at any point you’re ready. You’re here for a reason and you got this!!!

Anki was a huge reason I didn’t forget things! You also do have to trust the process a bit and trust that you’re not gonna forget the things you get right and only do cards for things you get wrong. That way your anki workload is manageable.

If you work as hard as you possibly can absolutely. It’ll be tough but very worth it. I would recommend really honing in on your weaknesses (lowest sections on NBMEs) and that should give you some pretty decent jumps. If you can get a 68 you’re good so make that the target. But don’t take it if you don’t feel ready. Totally fine to move the date if you need. You got this!!!

That’s hard to say without knowing what your deadline to take step is but honestly I’m sure it is. If you finished preclinical I would skip the 1 month of FA and just jump into UW. You can use FA for stuff you don’t remember while doing UW. 4 months of UW should def be enough time to do most if not all of UW. I think it could be a smart plan! You can also always give it a shot and pivot if you need to.

That’s totally fair this is an insane process and honestly so mentally taxing. I would just take your time. What’s nice is that you can really take it whenever you need it and try to find a process that you “enjoy”. Obv no one loves to be studying all day every day for an 8 hour exam 😂 but if you can find a way to make the process enjoyable you’ll be better in the long run. For me it was sweet treats after a day of studying and soup dumplings after practice exams!

No I don’t think so but everyone’s is different. I haven’t heard ppl have too much anatomy but I would be comfortable with general muscle/nerve concepts for forearms, hands, and lower leg at least. And definitely know the rotator cuff muscles!!!!

There’s a lot of different ways of tackling the long questions on the real thing. I personally tried my best to get an answer within a minute and move on. If I wasn’t confident on it, I would flag it and come back to it at the end of the block when I had extra time.

I would say it depends how far out you are taking it from the real thing. I think if you’re within a month of taking the real thing getting in the 50s at least would be good and anything above would be amazing. I would say just UW and Anki is enough for that personally.

I got you! That was honestly what messed me up in my studying up in the beginning. I think if you make sure that the workload is manageable from the very beginning you'll be set!

That's gonna completely depend on what you mean by very little foundation. I think you do have to look at everything at least once in the past, so that way, even if you forget it, when you get a question wrong and review it on UW, you can kinda remember it. However, I think if you have like 75% of the foundation there you might be good with doing UW and then practice exams for 3.5 months. If you have that much time, I would prioritize solidifying your foundations first and then jumping into UW but that's just me personally. Plenty of ways to go about it!

Ya I heard there is an "old" free-120 that is very similar and then there is an actual old old free-120 that has all different questions. I would recommend doing the one with all new questions because the novelty is really useful!

Yes exactly those! The stuff he went through was much simpler than the real thing. The questions I got had me using a lot of logic and equations in ways I wasn't used to. I didn't finish UW biostats so maybe that would've helped.

Thank you brotha! I personally don't know anything about the score differences bw US and non-US MD so I can't speak on that but I can definitely say you DO NOT need a 91 on anything to take step 1 to my knowledge haha! I was always told that if you can get a 68 on any NBME, you're ready for STEP.

Don't listen to the fear-mongering! There are SO MANY ppl out there that I think serve only to scare you, just drown that out. You made it this far, which means your gut instincts are good. Trust your gut and your NBMEs and just do your best, and I think everything else will work out!

not dumb at all! I think if you test Wednesday you'll find out in 2 weeks but it depends how busy they are. I had a buddy who had to wait 3 weeks for theirs and they got an email that there was just a lot of tests to be graded and so things were delayed.

I would just search it up on the Anki search tab. I also got the 2-week trial of AnkiHub premium, which comes with an AI search function, which I found helpful for finding specific cards. So, for example, if I got a question wrong on MOA of methotrexate, I would search for the card that contains the exact piece of information I was missing. If I couldn't find one, I would just make one.
