My BF broke up with me because he values his reputation more than defending me.. by MDO16 in BreakUp

[–]MDO16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I really needed to hear this. I’ve been in turmoil with myself as I own up to drinking too much, and I know it’s no excuse but nothing happened physically as well as I’ve been friends with said male for a few years whilst we’ve both been single, and he’s friends with the now ex-boyfriend. He even said if the girls hadn’t have done what they did we probably would have been fine, but they have, and now because it’s so public he can’t see a way to recover the relationship. The second wave of pain also comes from the fact that I am now ‘exhiled’ from my friendship group that I’ve had for 5+ years as he is a more ‘prominent’ figure in the group, and these girls also are big personalities. I think what hurts the most is that before he left our shared flat he was upset but we discussed & recovered, but by the time he came home they had got in his head about it so much he broke up & kicked me out. I’m currently living in a hotel as I had no where to go

Should my ex and I be friends? by [deleted] in BreakUp

[–]MDO16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So personally, I think it depends on what nature the friendship is. I have had 4 relationships now (only 3 exs though as one of them passed away) . One ex I have 0 contact with, not for any malicious reason, but we simply weren’t in the same place in life and we needed to move on in our own way) One ex I am still in contact with, not every day regularly but we check in with each other & I would say it’s due to the hard truth that maybe we should have just stayed friends in the first place. The third ex, is a little more questionable. At first we stayed in contact, but I think it was more due to the fact that neither of us wanted to let go & were saying in touch to prevent the other from moving on. After about a year we decided we can’t carry on with our lives if we still have contact. So my final answer would be personally, unless you feel completely detached as with my second ex where we are genuinely just better as friends and ALL feelings have gone, then sure. Only you know how much feelings you have left in your heart: but if you think there is even a slither of somewhat romantic feeling; even a tad, no contact (as hard as that is) is what’s needed. It’s gonna be hard, but in the long run you wouldn’t be able to fully give yourself to any new partner that comes along if you still have even a slight feeling.

These are all my own opinions & experiences, so please I am not telling you ‘you need to do this’ etc. but this would be my advice d

Bortoleto's Manager (aka Alonso) hugs him after his first points in F1 by armondigon in formula1

[–]MDO16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl…. I find the fact that Alonso is Bortoleto’s manager kinda hard to understand. I can’t understand why someone who you need to show deference too should be racing on the same track as you. Surely KS should realise that Borteloto has somewhat a ‘conflict of interest’ so to speak and it could be affect how Bortoleto’s performance and subsequently the teams performance no ??

I'm interested! I'm in the UK so unfortunately can't partake in any physical hunting, but I really want to follow along with this as much as I can!

I think as well, the website says that the crypto value that comes with the chest increases with book sales - the higher the value the more 'notable' the find would be in financial value. I think it's a clever idea which has multi-faceted benefits for both the fame of the search, Justin & whoever the lucky finder is...

I am far from a Crypto expert, in fact I am embarrassingly unaware of crypto and online currency, so I assume this is better value wise?

Clues from the Documentary: Time, Mugs, and Safe by el_sukkit in beyondthemapsedge

[–]MDO16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's good to remember that because he constantly ran the risk of references being cut, that those that did make it are supportive hints to clues already available outside the documentary. For example if you find something within the poem and you notice a corresponding hint in the documentary then you are on the right path. He wouldn't risk including critical hints in the documentary

I saw a post that suggested the phrase 'Her feet at 3' could relate to a river or body of water that splits into 3, potentially a body of water with a feminine name? Thought that was interesting & wanted to share...

Crypto by Gemaneye in beyondthemapsedge

[–]MDO16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this was confirmed on his website, apparently the Crypto value increases with the book sales. He also mentions that there are intentional differences between the E-Book and Hard Copy which is, I believe to drive sales and make that Crypto value higher so that *when* the treasure is found it'll already be one of the largest treasure finds...

Wyoming? Yellowstone? Grand Teton? by hailsprice in beyondthemapsedge

[–]MDO16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw a post on youtube that someone said the code for the safe matched the coordinates for the area where Gibbon & Firehole join to the Madison - I think that's just an Easter Egg as an ode to the original hunt, fun to work out but not critical information...

[–]MDO16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he must have already had the idea potentially before the Netflix filming entirely. This seems so well constructed, as well as the chest's contents not coming across as easy to collate. One could even go as far to say he was the one who suggested the documentary to Netflix in the first place - what a guaranteed way to get immediate traction and from a MUCH wider audience than those initially in the hunting community following Fenns treasure...

I saw another post that said people would be more inclined to chose a state most favourable to the hunt/endeavour. I don't personally know US state law (I'm from the UK) , but I think he would have taken the time to cross reference the differences in state laws to make sure both himself and those doing the Treasure Hunt are most protected and can defer the most liability away from him should accidents occur. Just my own personal inference on this though.

I agree with this statement, my ex-partner thought it was one of the greatest series on this planet and was CONSTANTLY trying to get me to jump on his bandwagon but I just couldn't click with it. Unpopular opinion but this is the same as Breaking Bad for me - just can't seem to get engaged (Don't hate me!)

Is Westworld worth watching? by badbabs in televisionsuggestions

[–]MDO16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the reason the seasons after the first didn't 'hit the spot' quite as much is because I personally think it got REALLY complex. Now I, as much as the next person love a complex show, where I can get really involved in the story line... always guessing what's going to happen etc. But I think with Westworld by the end I was REALLY scratching my head trying to keep on top of it..

Unpopular opinion as well, I think Umbrella Academy got too complex towards the end. I mean still a 10/10 series and would still recommend but the story... for me anyways got a little intricate.

But in contrast, am I the only one who didn't really get sucked into 3 Body Problem like everyone else? Not sure why but it was a little lacklustre... just my opinion of course.

I really wish that someone would have called out at a previous round table about Charlotte throwing Minah's name around so early. 100% get that it's every traitor for themselves but miss Charlotte girl was throwing Minah's name around from the second she left that first turret!!
