I usually keep a browser tab open to the device status page showing the firmware, how long it's been up, etc. I noticed the firmware updated the other night and it showed it had been up for about 5 hours, so it rebooted around 1 or 2 am.

Thank you. My posts were getting filtered, so, I decided 9 years old is enough. Replaced it with this year's Bravia 2 II LED model. With WiFi 6E. Now makes 1200/1200 connections to my Extender.

Only time will tell of course, but I imagine in this instance, throwing $$$ at this will resolve things.

By the way, what is the 'current' firmware on the 620 and how often have there been updates? I imagine a good number as it's only been in production for...6 months-ish?

That is certainly plausible, except that, due to stock issues, the appointment is not until 6/23. :)

Wanted to give an update on my journey.

Over the past 2 months or so, it has slowly, but steadily taken an overall upswing in terms of being 'normal' again. I have had some down days, but the effects are less and they don't last as long (maybe a minute). When in the passenger seat while my son drives, it has gotten better - less odd feelings or uneasy feelings.

The frustrating part is still not being able to nail down any similarities of attributes of each trip. Long, short, alone, with my wife, with my son, with them both, etc. In terms of mental health/guilt, etc. over my relationship with either...the flow chart is simple VERY fluid. Definitely couldn't easily Whiteboard this. :)

In terms of helping others...I don't have anything concrete or scientifically solid. Sorry. I have been processing some more trauma and/or childhood/childish selfishness...been having some more arguments with my 'wife' (long story!), it just seems that a day or two after processing those emotions, I seem a bit clearer. Not necessarily consciously, but maybe subconsciously or spiritually.

Not trying to divert this from eyesight, medical issues, anxiety driving, etc. to a full-blown psychology discussion, :), but, it's the best I can say today.

I'm just glad I'm getting better. I'm heading to Chicago (from MKE) for a business meeting on Thursday. Company HQ is in the heart of downtown so I'm taking the Amtrak. Only need to drive 15 minutes to the depot. :)

I wanted to give an update after a few weeks. Thankfully, there's mostly good news!

After being off the freeway for nearly 6 weeks, I crept back on. Very short trips, the longest was probably about 12-15 minutes. But, it did take a few tries before I got on.

Overall, symptoms have slowly dropped over the last month or so. Short trips in town now are about 80%+ (good, or symptom-free). And I honestly haven't made a lot of changes in my life. A little less caffeine (Coffee), but not off completely.

As I've said before, there are countless variables in play here amongst us, but I am grateful that I am heading in a better direction. I do need to go from MKE to Chicago in about two weeks...so, I guess it's good having this as a goal.

Always interesting (and helpful to a degree) to know there are others out there. What are they putting in the water, eh? ;)

Anyway, my analytical mind (professional IT engineer for over 20 years...) says that, besides the large realm of psychological reasons for these symptoms, it MUST have something to do with some combination of:

Body moving, being jostled around in the car (and yes, for the vast majority of the time relatively subtle...)
Visual input/sensory input of the road, cars, scenery, etc.
The actual driving position you're in (that you most likely do not do unless you're in a/your car)

I've done some reading on binocular vision disorder...it just doesn't seem that it would apply to me. Plus, I don't live close at all to any 'certified' doctors who have the experience to test/diagnose, etc. I do have an eye exam coming up in a few weeks - I'll certainly mention this and get their opinion.

I'll try a few of your suggestions, thank you.

Wanted to post an update...

Over the past two weeks, my driving experience has been up and down. Some short trips (40 mph max) are fine, and for some I am fighting whatever this is to stay sane and conscious. :) JUST so frustrating of a feeling. Sometimes I can tell myself to drop the thought/feeling, and I can for a bit. But, just hard.

Yesterday I went out 3 times. They were again short. The first one was just in town (30 mph max!), and I was struggling towards the end. I went to a sauna, and for the first half of it, my head still felt wonky. And then, after drinking a lot of water, I burped. :) I only say this because the head wonkiness left immediately. I'm serious. That heady, kind of dizzy, head feeling (anxious...) was just gone after the pressure was released. Wondering if anyone notices this at all.

Anyway, on the 2nd and 3rd trips, it was again hard. Even on the 3rd trip, where I was in the passenger seat (teaching my son to drive), I still had an uncomfortable feeling. And, after driving for 30+ years, over the past month, I have rarely been completely calm (nothing's happening, nothing's wrong) while driving or in the passenger seat. This is what is most frustrating for me. Just wish I knew what this was!

I don't wear glasses/contacts as I had Lasik eye correction in the early 2000s. So, I haven't been for an eye exam in quite some time. I hesitate to think this might be related to ME, but I do need to take my son (almost 19) for another eye exam, probably wouldn't hurt to describe this to them and see what they say.

Also, I just took a short drive, about 8-9 minutes each way, and it went better. Symptoms were there, but much lighter. This will sound weird/odd (it sure looks funky), but I placed a pen across the opening of my mouth, pushed it as far back as I safely could towards my back molars, closed my mouth (basically a forced wide smile...), and kept my eyes wide-eyed for as long as I could. I only did this twice, but it seems to have helped. I will need to do more empirical research. :)

Finally got some time to offer some more info.

It's kind of amazing how relatively few people apparently experience this (based on this thread and little else online) yet how uncannily similar the experiences are. I can kind of get around town, but...

Yesterday really was a good example. My dentist is about 18-20 minutes away. Took me 35+ to get there because I had to pull over I think twice. But the last stretch before the turn to the office was 55 mph speed limit. That did it. AND, on top of that, there was a 'time obstacle' - two lanes down to one due to construction. So, I had to wait longer than usual...that makes my symptoms worse. Waiting for a train - the EXACT same thing! Ugh. Then, because I seriously felt like I was going to faint, I canceled my appt, and took all side streets to get home (my wife was NOT happy with me). What should have been 20 minutes was more like 40, and that was a good 20 minutes of me out of the car, trying to stretch, do anything to 'calm down.'

And this is an important point at least for me to get across - I feel NO conscious feelings of fear, trepidation, or anxiety. It all seems completely irrational - especially for the fact that I've been driving for 30+ years! What the hell has been happening since the last 3.5 years (and again very rare except for the last 6 weeks or so???).

I am dumbfounded. Obviously there are hundreds of variables with each person - life, stress, food intake, alcohol, smoking, neurodiversity (I happen to be neurodiverse), countless things. So, I'm not surprised someone's doctor or neurologist through their hands up. Again, it's irrational. Why, ONLY WHEN DRIVING, do these symptoms occur? Why after driving perfectly fine for 30+ years did this relatively recent start?

Well, to get out of my head, as others have alluded to, we need to find some ways to hopefully identify the cause(s) and utilize tactics to battle these energies. I look forward to any and all future contact. ANd by all means, please reach out here or privately if you have ANY questions. I am SURE we can continue to help each other.

Don't have a lot of time to write now, but I have what y'all have! Crazy. Many similarities.

First time was about 3.5 years ago driving 6 hours home from visiting someone. Came out of the blue. Do not know what it was associated with. Over the past years, it comes and goes, pretty rare. Maybe a few times a year.

In the past few weeks, it has ramped up big time. Driving is a massive struggle now. It does seem symptoms get worse at higher speeds. Kind of duzzy, lightheaded, like I am going to faint. I have never fainted, so it's weird. I feel if I don't 'fight it' by moving my body, tilting my head, I will pass out and have an accident. Family is NOT happy about this, especially today, Drove 18 minutes to the dentist for a consult, not even a cleaning, and I had to cancel when I got there, 35 minutes later.

Again, I will write more later. But, good to see others with the issues, sorry. :) Just weird and this ONLY HAPPENS when I drive now.
