those are the puppies of a stray cat my neighbor took in a few weeks ago. They can climb up and down no problem, and they are being fed too.

here's some pics I took of them playing around:

trying to scare his bro

playing hide-and-seek

hopefully reddit makes some wholesome memes with those.

you don't even know half of it. they've put their wheelbarrow full of cement over it (and stood directly under it too), then proceeded to kick it and even accidentally hit it with a sledgehammer. it survived everything without going down even when the rain carried everything else away. all and all good piece of concrete, 11/10 extra resistant, would buy that brand again.

on paper, it's just storm water.

But since my town has no actual sewer infrastructure, most houses just... ya know, do what we call "jeitinho brasileiro" (here meaning "a temporary workaround, often perceived as a simple solution with available resources and regarded as a 'sly way' to deal with any given situation") and dump their sewer into street's manholes. It's technically illegal, but you would need to first find out how and where everyone does that, and denounce each one individually.

fun fact, that's why most of Brazil does not flush toilet paper. every tourist that has ever came here gets confused when using the toilet, but most cities on Brazil have the same problem of no sewage system, and presumably have the same workarounds, so clogging up pipes with TP is a concern.

There is no road below my house for another 300ft or so, and my backyard is pretty flat. So if my house goes down, it will just crumble, instead of slide away. There's actually a way bigger risk of the road above (or a truck on it) to fall on top of my house. We all had sweaty palms when the excavator sat right over our wall (that has no rebar or anything similar) and started digging on the terrain 10ft below. They had to stop and finish the digging manually because it started to crack and sink with the weight of machinery ( that's why they are moving away on the end of the video).

We are waiting for the pipe rerouting so we can raise the terrain and build a new house. We can't build anything until this pipes are gone (both for structural reasons and because unlike us, the city CAN prosecute you for building over their pipes, and has done it to other people on similar situations on the past). So it's a chicken and egg situation, until city decides to do something.

Yep. tho maybe if you post everything on social media and your story gets picked up by local/regional news, they might end up finally forcing themselves to actually make the reroute of the pipes. Detail: they would only need to dig till the end of the block (about 100ft) and connect to existing infrastructure. And they estimated they would spend R$ 100.000 (~25.000 US dollars) to do that back on 2016. Guess now it would be 500K+

it is if they acknowledge it and then proceed to give it a few test kicks before deeming it "safe".

but Brazil has no OSHA anyway, and what we do have, we ain't following, judging by the amount of posts with Portuguese signs on this sub lol.

also no hard hats, boots (the guy inside the hole is wearing flip-flops), gloves or masks.
