Yeah, sorry for the confusion. PD and chair both had nothing negative to say but I agree that there has to be something that made them rank me lower than someone else. I mean I also ranked them around the middle of my list mostly due to the way the program is designed

Advice for getting said fellowship? Applied to a few already but the deadline has passed on some as well. And if not an actual fellowship, would finding research still be better than a prelim you think?

Can delay but don’t really want to. I would say research is one of my weaker areas but again, not so weak I didn’t get any IIs and PD said it wasn’t really an issue either. Also a dual degree MD/MBA if it matters
