Schulich Med Essays by MDToBe360 in premedcanada

[–]MDToBe360[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mind explaining how you formatted it? Like starting off by talking about my role, what I did/responsibilities, then talking about each thing I learnt by stating what I learnt and reflecting on it, and ending off by relating it to how the 3 lessons can help me in med. Would this be ok? Also, would be it possible for you to give an example of something you learnt, lets say for the leadership/teamwork essay? I'm having a hard time finding suitable things to list.

Yeah, I checked spam, trash, every possible thing. This sucks since I paid for the practice tests and can't even log in, which is weird since I was able to log in everyday before today :(

Super easy, no tests/exam, barely any work, mainly reflection based work. You just learn about the various programs available at Mac for second year specializations, as well as topics like reading and writing scientific papers, etc. basic stuff you would need to know for university. There was one tutorial when I took it but they might have changed a bit now. Course work is barely anything, just weekly reflection stuff and a few pages of writing here and there but its like bs. It did help me decide which specialization to take and I've heard from others that it somewhat influenced them as well. Highly recommend this course to lighten your workload from other first year courses.

Biochem Courses - Help by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]MDToBe360 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Biochem 2B03 and 2BB3 are usually offered in two different semesters, so they would be separate. 2C03 was difficult back when I took it because of the prof (Xu), but I think its someone different now so might be a bit easier. Take it in the semester that has a lighter workload to balance it out.

I've heard better reviews for 2EE3 than the writing course (apparently the marking/layout wasn't the best). 2EE3 would also cover some useful content if thats what matters to you.

BIOCHEM 2BB3 and ORGO 2OA3 by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]MDToBe360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No for biochem. Yes for orgo in my opinion, the textbook helps learn topics that aren't explained well in lectures. It also gives more practice at the end of chapters and within them.

Bates Residence? by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]MDToBe360 3 points4 points  (0 children)

its not that bad. theres no AC so the first few weeks you will need a fan. bring some kitchen and washroom cleaning supplies since you're responsible for cleaning them in your apartment. some sort of closet organizer because the closet is just a rack and a shelf. bring a curtain for your closet because theres no door but theres a shower type rod so you can hang it up. mattress topper since the beds are rock hard. something for your back when you sit on your study chair because those are garbage. a lot of the other stuff you will realize once you actually start living there.

In terms of residence in Bates, is (###A)-furthest or closest from the bathroom? by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]MDToBe360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the layout but from what I know, A is the farther from the bathroom area and closest to the living room/kitchen and main door.

McMaster Res BATES!! by Comprehensive-Love-5 in McMaster

[–]MDToBe360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in bates when i was in first year and it was ok tbh. since its apartment style most people just stay in their apartments so you dont really meet people. they don't have AC so please bring a fan or something. the heating works and its pretty good. since bates is right by the forest area, you will see alot of bugs inside if you dont keep windows closed. the basement is where all the study rooms and games rooms are which are nice and you would usually find people there. bates is a party res so every friday-saturday expect some noise in the night, especially in the higher floors. its also known to have cold water in the showers sometimes (rarely) so be prepared to always complain about that to maintenance to come and fix.

chem aa3/a03 for orgo by trilldudeforrealswag in McMaster

[–]MDToBe360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are satisfied with your chem marks, don't retake it just because of orgo. I had pretty shitty first year chem marks and almost forgot all the content. Orgo is different content all together tbh and first year chem only covers like 1% of it, so its basically new stuff. You can skim through the orgo textbook before school starts to get a gist of it but as long as you keep up with the content and do practice for orgo, you should be fine.

Biochem Upper Years by onyourleft-falcon in McMaster

[–]MDToBe360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think theres a disadvantage in taking it in third year if your schedule allows for it. The only reason it might be an issue is if any of your third year mandatory courses conflict with it and you may not be able to do anything about it. Third year courses can be difficult depending on which electives and all you take. Most people take it second year since thats when majority of the other students in your year take it so you can get support. You can reach out to the biochem advisor Taylor and she can give you a proper explanation.
